Provable SHRIMPS: Post-quantum hash-based signatures verified in Cairo with STARK proofs. As usual @blksresearch is killing it on the post quantum bitcoin research. SHRIMPS 🦐 is so cool that I made provable shrimps, it could be useful to for batch shrimps signature verification. Don't panic, as @adam3us said: "SHRIMPS & bitcoin quantum readiness > quantum FUD."

for those of you new to Liquid: it’s a fork of bitcoin core that enables confidential transaction and uses a signet instead of proof of work for blocks. Simplicity was shipped last summer and enables pretty much any script program you could want. Researchers from @StarkWareLtd built a ZK prover with it. @blksresearch built a PQ sig scheme. Adding Simplicity to bitcoin would be quite straightforward — much of the work has already been done to add it to Liquid

It’s interesting that the Google quantum paper proposes a dedicated recovery sidechain for vulnerable or quantum-recovered BTC, with governance analogous to the @Liquid_BTC Federation. This approach makes sense, Elements/Liquid is probably the most practical bitcoin-adjacent PQ testbeds today. @blksresearch is already working on hash-based PQ signatures there, and Elements has long served as a bitcoin sandbox for upgrades that can later be ported over (and vice versa).

They also maintain libsecp256k1-zkp, the extended fork that powers @Liquid_BTC's Confidential Transactions, MuSig2, and zero-knowledge proofs. The team has just brought the zkp fork up to date with 2.5 years of upstream improvements.

Fun fact: something like 80% of Liquid's codebase is inherited from Bitcoin Core and is maintained at close parity, meaning it benefits from any upstream optimizations, fixes or QoL improvements. Liquid is private bitcoin with extra features.
