"It's Seattle time! The theme for this QQL Monthly is Seattle Grayscale! On one side, I want all eyes on one of the least explored QQL palettes to date, which I feel still has so much to unveil. On the other hand, I'm curious as to how interesting, monolithic, and cohesive the collective results can be with a directive so simple as "no color". While QQL is so full of color everywhere, some palettes occasionally print a b&w seed that tends to stand out. I think Seattle has the best range of desaturated outputs and I'm eager to see what we can come up with. Happy exploring!"-- @heeey_eth A special thanks to @heeey_eth, who is leading this month's theme. Submissions open February 12 in the Tyler Hobbs Discord Server.

The real reason behind the hate of Beeple is galleries are being cut out. @beeple @jackbutcher and others are disrupting the old system. Hence the art history majors taking their thoughts to social media.

A LOOK BACK AT CHONKS' FIRST YEAR Despite a raw set of tools, a bunch of awesome people showed up with skills of all different types to build on top of Chonks in some way. And I think that marks a successful first year and the beginnings of a really powerful brand. I said to @0x113d in a DM shortly after we launched that I was excited to learn more about what we'd built. The first year of Chonks was really all about that. What we shipped this year: - ChonksMarket – A fully onchain marketplace with no external dependencies for buying and selling - Chonks/Traits safely without front running - ChonksMarketV2 – Expanding on that, less fully onchain but more UX-focused - Marketplace UX built for speed, leveraging Base's fast blocktimes, FlashBlocks and more - Special Traits for collecting various NFTs (@basepaint_xyz, Song A Day, @liquidculturefm episode NFTs, Penguitt) - ChonkChess – a fully playable chess game, and Chonks Curated 001 featuring HeavyAlien - ChonkNames – 83,300 ENS subdomains for Chonk backpacks - 2 versions of our Indexer (shout out @doyle126) - An overhaul to Chonks Studio (more on that next year) - Hawk Tuah and the Sleeping Chonks, a threejs version of @beeple's piece, customizable with your Chonks - ChonksFont - A 3D Playground to play with your Chonk - Marfa Traits and first ever meetup in Marfa (I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things) Some things our amazing community shipped: - A ton of amazing artwork and remixes (shout out @heavyalien_nft, @jpegsonbase @0xfilter8, BTChonks to name a few) - We were featured or made appearances in a number of Beeple's Everydays - Chonks Lootboxes by @nix_eth - Chonkenpox by @MikeSylphDapps - @KikflipCo by @EzekielOden - The first 3D Chonk prints (@day25, @jpegsonbase, and @cryptopeng1) - @Penguitt's Year of 2024 piece - @songadaymann's various Chonks song references - @GTSewell and the Marfa Chonks Mobile (this list is far from complete and I'm sorry if I forgot you) - Chonks were also featured in a ton of @basepaint_xyz canvases Floor price Let's address the elephant in the room: floor price. It's down, bad. We're aware. Our goal over time is to deliver value to our holders and our community and that comes from iterating and building things that people want. That iteration takes time. Thank you for your patience and your trust while we build. On Culture It took Punks four years to become really valuable. While I'm not saying Chonks is the next Punks, I bring them up to illustrate that cultural objects and networks need time to work and proliferate. It's really hard to create meaningful, lasting cultural impact when you lead only with money. That was one of the reasons we structured our mint the way we did: an approachable $38, that way, if the price goes down, you're not out too much money, and if the price goes up, we all enjoy that upside together. Pokémon didn't start by selling cards and telling people that certain ones were going to be valuable and that's why you should buy them. They made a card game, a video game, TV shows, movies, and characters that people fell in love with and over time, markets emerged for different objects within that ecosystem. What we've been building is the foundation for that ambition. More is More Every time people tell us to burn Chonks, I push back because Chonks are essentially fungible (aside from their ID) and having more of them allow more people to play in our ecosystem. 83,300 people can each own a Chonk. That's only 0.001% of the world's population or 1 in 98,800 people. Tiny, in the grand scheme of things. Cheap, plentiful NFTs let more people participate and where things get rare and valuable is in the Traits. This hasn't been well explored...yet. We haven't released too many Traits this year but we've done some valuable testing and built tooling to help us ship Traits and collaborations faster. Next year and into the future you'll start to see an economy of Traits proliferate, powered by our upgraded marketplace. Positioning We've started to pivot our positioning to be much friendlier to a general audience. Internally, we call it the Chonks Mullet: LEGO in the front, crypto in the back. It's much easier to explain to someone in an airport that "Chonks are a little friends you can customize, play with in games, and 3D print," than it is to explain to them that "Chonks are a PFP collection, fully on-chain, on @Base." The latter is just too technical and jargon-y. Everyone understands character builders. From PokPok and Club Penguin to Fortnite and FIFA, from Barbie to Legos to Halo: a base character that you can dress up in different ways with special items that you can earn to denote status, experience, or achievement. That's where we're going with Chonks. Lots of Traits in varying rarities: an ecosystem with Traits that are being created, burned, and earned, introduced through collaborations, special on-chain actions, and IRL activations. Positioning it in such a way where enjoyers of IRL culture and enjoyers of crypto culture can all find a home and collect and play and have fun – on Chonks. What's Next? A key piece of Chonks is once your Chonk is all dressed up, it needs somewhere to go, right? With AI making it easy to create new games and experiences and different token models that are being explored, we're excited to dive deeper into those more next year. We're excited to explore @farcaster_xyz mini apps, @LayerZero_Core, and more! All in all, this was a really successful year. We understand that Chonks is a really long-term project, and that's what we're building for. We love this mixture of very technically complex and onchain for those who care, while being fun and approachable for those that just want to dress up a character and make a little bit of art in the Studio or play a game. There are very few NFT projects that are still building. But as a technology, something that enables provable ownership, composability, collaboration, I think we've barely scratched the surface. To date, NFTs have come in very few forms and we're excited to show the world how much fun you can have, with Chonks. Thank for being part of the journey, @backseats_eth and @marka_eth

Intimate Systems is a show about how blockchain art turns logical, coded systems into spaces for subtle human presence: traces, gestures, and quiet interactions layered within visible networks. 𝟶𝚡𝚋𝟾𝟾𝚍𝟺𝚏𝚍𝚎 is the work I created, and here's a brain dump:
