When someone tortures two elderly ladies for hours, rapes them with a glass bottle, cuts off some body parts and then uses their blood to write the words "Kill the Boer" on the wall, please don't tell us it's just "normal crime" or that they were simply killed for being isolated.

🚨#BREAKING: Two men in Charlotte NC have been arrested after one man attempted to stand on top of a horse's back in Uptown Charlotte, falls off, and then the horse runs into the street and is hit by a car.
It's unclear whether the horse survived.
The men have been charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

A temporary ordinance to facilitate more “missing middle” housing projects passed 11-1.
Housing projects that use the City’s pre-approved Portfolio Homes designs will qualify for expedited approvals. Folks: I had a great call this morning with our US Attorney in Charlotte.
Brown remains in federal custody and so the parallel state proceedings are in no way dispositive. There will be a federal competency determination and prosecution track taking precedence.

I was at the OP city council meeting this week. For a client. This OP city "partnership" with Driven Development (a KC Missouri based, Community Activist-run NGO focused on urban affordable housing) 'Portfolio Homes' proposal is disastrous for all involved. Particularly the surrounding neighborhoods. Up to 8-9 units per acre. Many are duplexes. All are rented or rent to own. Minimal and waived zoning, permitting, and design review. Quick build. HUD and section 8 eligible. Many with no garages (car ports instead). No home ownership whatsoever. Despite their claims that it will fix the 'Missing middle' in home ownership. The first proposed site was acquired via eminent domain by the city, under alleged false pretenses. Focus on 'alleged,' at this stage. Everyone's best guess is someone is profiting off of these sudden programs emerging simultaneously nationwide; they are certainly not organic. Lot of media coverage at the heated meeting on Monday. Below are some of the houses to be built (there are 8 or 9 models):

My best guess is the taxpayers will be paying those taxes. Not the renters. (Or renters to own, in some cases).
There are much better initiatives and developments in play right now, (mostly private sector partnerships) in cities all across the country, which actually DO help first time buyers, and increase ownership across lower and middle price ranges.
This is not one of them.
