Next Monday, I’m joining Google as a Principal Engineer to work in the intersection of LLMs and developer/researcher platforms and tools. There are large gaps at every layer, from prototyping to building production services. While we train and explore models, we are not doing enough for infrastructure and tooling.

Gemini (gemini.google.com) end of week update/recap: Blown away by all the people who have shared using Gemini to help them with things like iterating through a business strategy using their preferred framework, working through possible solutions to a gnarly coding challenge they were facing for days, and sharing they used it to navigate a tricky advocacy scenario for a loved one. Please keep your stories coming - they inspire our team deeply ❤️ On the product side, we have cut refusals in ~half since launch, which is hard to believe was 8 days ago. Working to continue to cut this down while still focusing on alignment. We updated the Android app to auto submit your voice inputs to bring it closer to Assistant behavior. Also fixed many sign in errors that were happening for folks who switched their device language to English for the app and then back to an unsupported language… thank you for going through hoops to install it 🙃 More users have access to mobile in iOS via Google app and Android via Assistant opt in. Still continuing to progressively roll it out. Supports English, Japanese and Korean in eligible countries: support.google.com/gemini/answer/… More improvements & requested features on the way… thank you again for participating in the dialog. Happy Monday! Gemini update: We've reduced refusals on many image generation cases and coding cases where you input non-live URLs. Heads down continuing to reduce refusals while maintaining alignment. A key bit of AI alignment is... aligning to your feedback. Keep it coming!

Gemini mobile update: rollout started in English in more countries and will continue over next few days. Android: Starting to roll out via invoking Google Assistant - triggers an in situ opt in. Working on making it more clear exactly which Assistant features are work in progress vs which are available now. (also working on narrowing that gap!) iOS: Rolling out as a toggle at the top of your Google app. Currently appears if you have your OS language set to English. Japanese & Korean support next, followed by more languages/countries soon. Also working on a few more model fixes. Stay tuned. Keep the feedback coming!

Bard is now called Gemini; and Gemini Advanced with Ultra 1.0 has launched! It was the most preferred chatbot in blind evaluations with third-party raters. And it’s now available on mobile on Android and iOS. Have fun trying it out!
