It is utterly impossible to conceive that they would not bring the vetting result to the attention of the person ultimately responsible for his appointment. Especially so as he failed and the risks that then presents. Anybody with any vetting experience knows this

We now have the Government response: Neither the PM nor 10 Downing Street nor the Cabinet Office knew the Foreign Office had decided to ignore the fact Mandelson had failed his security vetting. Call it the ‘know-nothing’ government. But it leaves a major question unanswered: why would the FO take it on itself to make such a huge judgement call — and not inform/consult Downing Street? What was in it for the FO? It hadn’t even necessarily wanted Mandy, unlike Starmer and the 10 Downing Street operation. Doesn’t add up.

Keir Starmer and Labours entire campaign leading up to the 2024 elections was about taking accountability and delivering change.
Incredible really, considering they have achieved absolutely none of that.
One of the worst governments in modern history.

@Trader__007 Welfare needs to be reshaped as a short term support solution whilst people get back to work. They could start by paying it in vouchers that can only go on food, clothing and energy. If you’re able to pay for sky tv, the latest iPhone etc then the support is non essential

As I keep saying a day of reckoning is coming. Either a government stop this huge level of waste or the debt markets will.

Keir Starmer continues to his enhance his jet-set position as the ‘never-here Keir’ Prime Minister with the most overseas trips in 2 years (42 international trips). He is flying to the Middle East to showcase himself at the US/Israel-Iran ceasefire negotiations that he played absolutely no part in. His only role was to give RAF bases to the USA to launch air strikes on Iran.

Labour's Benefit Street Economy! Couple A both work, they have 2 kids and would like a third but the cost of bringing another child into the world is more than they can afford so they stick with 2. With frozen tax thresholds, their taxes will rise this year making it even harder. Couple B live on benefits, they have 6 kids, They will get child benefit for another 4 kids from today, £293 a month each kid! Another £1172 a month in benefit. They pay no tax. A free £17.5k a year child benefit for humping the missus a bit more carelessly. Couple
