I am absolutely burnt out. But in a few hours, I leave for Delft with my two oldest kids to check out the university where my daughter has applied (and been accepted) to study mechanical engineering.

Speaking about the deep contradictions in human nature, Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada said: “Some people dream of having a swimming pool at home, while those who have one barely use it. Those who have lost a loved one feel a profound sense of loss, while others often complain about the relatives still in their lives. Those without a partner long for one, while those who have a partner often fail to appreciate them. The hungry would give anything for a meal, while the full complain about the taste of their food. Those without a car dream of owning one, while those who have a car are always looking for a better one. The key to happiness is gratitude—to truly see and value what we already have, and to understand that somewhere, someone would give everything for what we take for granted.”

Why should a nation in Asia, Africa, or Latin America have to touch the U.S. dollar to sell its own oil to its own neighbors? Read that question again. Why must the world’s blood circulate through America’s wallet? Why must sovereign trade kneel before a currency printed by a country drowning in debt, addicted to war, and lecturing others about discipline? The absurdity is so total people mistake it for nature.

When a Nazi officer entered Picasso's studio in occupied Paris, he saw a reproduction of Guernica. Shocked by the modernist 'chaos' of the painting that depicted the bombing of civilians during war, the fascist asked, "Did you do that?" Picasso replied, "No, you did."

Dozens of MPs and peers have signed a letter calling for a formal British apology over the Balfour Declaration in 1917, which paved the way for the creation of Israel in 1948 and the ethnic cleansing of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians during the Nakba middleeasteye.pulse.ly/7cpumcmyil
