@listenwithpod

I listen to music I've never heard to try to understand what I've been missing and what made it popular. And I listen with headphones. Clues in the title really

@coachcoyne_ It is our money. We pay for all this. Also. Overpaying on one player means not getting another player. The finances, however boring, do matter. We’re not owned by an oil state. Or a hedge fund with dubious accounting practices.

It’s Jaap Stam’s birthday. You remember him. Big Dutch fella. Once made pour Pietro Parente shit out his soul during a Serie A game. Bring yer dinner.

@Shamsdale Since we have two injury prone (albeit brilliant) right backs, so probably need one, I think we should. Let Mosquera, timber and white be the CB’s. New guy as RB option or even takes the shirt

Not exactly thrilled about the prospect of signing Konsa, but I struggle to think of anyone else who can play RCB at a high level in the PL but would also feasibly be willing to play understudy to Saliba when he returns. Wonder if Arsenal are better off just signing another RB.

@RorySmith Because some people will buy them and that makes FIFA money. The World Cup winners are hand models for FIFA’s next money making scheme.

There will be a lot of anger about this but to be honest I don't mind it for the players. I mean they have medals but fine, whatever, doesn't do any harm. But what's the point if you can just...buy one?

🚨💍 OFFICIAL: FIFA to award the winners of the World Cup with championship rings. It’s the first time in history, following some of the American sports. 30 rings will be made available to the world champions, with a further 1,996 rings going on sale to fans.

I don’t understand the need for Konsa (28) if you have Mosquera (22). Mosquera is significantly bigger, stronger, faster, fresher and brought up on Spanish ball playing football. Makes more sense to have White compete for RCB & sign a new RB as build up is also critical for us.

Kai / Gyok / Merino Saka / Madueke / Dowman Ode / Eze / Nwaneri Rogers / Martinelli / Tzolis I see a lot of depth, variation and different styles but a lack of star quality. Kai Rogers Ode Saka That would be our CL final attack. Good enough?

Cannot believe Rice allowed that from the bench

@SportsUncensrd He's not wrong. Can you imagine Souness (or any other class DM back in the day) allowing Fernandez 2 or 3 seconds (an eternity) to line up his shot from 22 yards out, especially as we had 10 FUCKING DEFENDERS in our box?

@fkhanage I don’t think I know what an £100 million player is anymore. Or £80. I do think left wing is the most obvious and easiest place to upgrade our attack. But I’m not sure Morgan Roger’s is a left winger/wide forward. As such, it’s a lot of money on faith .

Morgan Rogers isn’t a *£100m* player for me - based on nothing but instinct. Market remains inflated because of the usual suspects. I’d be pleased if we could agree a deal at around £80m. What do you all think?

@DrRitzyy Reasonable chance he goes out on a loan again with man UTD covering a chunk of the wages. Then he becomes very interesting

Night to myself so I’m going to write an honest player by player review of England’s World Cup performance Disclaimer - I’ve no club bias towards any player in this. Just saying what I saw without club blinkers on like most of you. Here we go…….

@MaxRadwan I don’t particularly rate Mainoo. But I can’t help feeling he was a better solution last night than the 6th defender……

@OliverKay @CGKnowsBall I’m not sure it’s mad to suggest that his lack of mobility (among other things) might hinder a team in the most important moments against the best opponents. Which, despite all the success, has been England’s ‘problem’ during this wonderful run .

@CGKnowsBall Do you realise this has been England's best run of tournament performances ever? In all of those tournaments bar one (Euro 2024, where he looked exhausted but still scored three goals en route to the final) he's been top-class. To say he is or has ever been "the problem" is mad

@listenwithpod @Gideoomatic It definitely would be. Might not be as smooth as it was against France, but they'll still have more of the possession and pass till time runs out. One thing they'll never do sit back and try to defend

Let's hope Harry Kane continues to the Euros, breaking Peter Shilton's incredible cap record (possibly in October), then reaching 100 goals, getting a statue for all he has done for English football, the national team and charity... 1/2

Not expecting Tzolis to pull up any trees but do think he will be a good addition to the squad. Eye for goal, quick, and probably best used as a pocket winger. Hopeful.

The thing with the ‘look what you could have brought’ discourse is, Tuchel had options and didn’t use them. He chose defenders. Bowen, Foden, Palmer or the reanimated corpse of Dixie fucking Dean would have been getting the same splinters in their arse as everyone else.
