India needs to counter the J-20 fleet in air-to-air combat. That too by fielding large numbers of foreign-origin fighters that cost billions of dollars and may be missing critical capabilities. That’s the one and only way to defeating the Chinese. There’s no other way. None.

So according to a French site (link below), 🇮🇳IAF wanted the GaN variant of RBE-2 AESAR for Rafale, but delays at 🇫🇷Thales in testing & export dev led to the adoption of the GaAs variant. India also didn’t secure future integration rights for the GaN radar under the package.🤔

In all the drama about Rafales it is worth pointing out that this is a good example of how "corruption hysteria" can sabotage institutions in developing countries more than actual corruption. The reason India only has two Rafale squadrons, and not 4-6 squadrons along with 3-5 integrated AWACS platforms, is the massive anti-IAF & anti-Rafale campaign with fake claims of "corruption" by the Indian opposition. The Indian opposition's and media's fake corruption campaigns against the Indian armed forces have had many damaging effects. For example some parts of the Indian armed forces actually declined additional funds in 2024-2025 because they are afraid to do significant procurements because of the inevitable fake corruption allegations by the Indian opposition and media. x.com/KSingh_1469/st…
