Thank you @POTUS Trump for appointing me as the Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas. @SecRubio and @SecWar are incredible leaders and I look forward to working with them closely to dismantle cartels that have poured drugs into our nation and killed our children and grandchildren. The Western Hemisphere is absolutely critical for U.S. security. In this new role, I will be able to build on the partnerships and national security expertise, I forged over the last 13 months as Secretary of Homeland Security. We have made historic accomplishments at the Department of Homeland Security to make America safe again: we delivered the MOST secure border in American history, 3 million illegal aliens have left the U.S., we have located 145,000 children, FEMA delivered disaster relief at a 100% faster rate, we ushered in the golden age of travel, saved the American taxpayer $13 billion and revitalized the U.S. Coast Guard.

We went last night. There were about 20 in the theater. Everybody clapped when it was over. I don't think we'll ever have another First Lady like Melania. She doesn't need to be in the limelight to get important things done. She spends her time on things that matter. And fashion is a talent. She is clearly ULTRA-talented. God bless and keep this beautiful and courageous woman as she stands behind the most positive influencer and productive, America-First President our country and the world has seen. What. A. Pair. God's forenowledge is certainly evident as as one considers the ideal pairing these two make for such a time in history as this. I admire and respect that Melania had the good sense to decline interviews and front covers from Vogue and Cosmopolitan and decided to give people a glimpse into her world on her own terms and with her own words, uncensored and truthful. I'm so thankful to have a first lady with so much class, grace and kindness, that can be seen every time she's in the public eye.

This mission is part of my 50-State Mowing Tour — done to honor those who served our country and highlight the importance of taking care of them. As a disabled female combat veteran who served on an Army Female Engagement Team and worked alongside infantry and special forces during my deployment to Afghanistan, I fully support @PeteHegseth speech today in standards. DEI policies have weakened our military, In January 2012, I participated in a mission where I was the only female in the team, supported by my interpreter. When we arrived at the village, it was eerily quiet. As teams entered from various directions, they were stopped by IEDs. My team found an IED and had to wait for EOD support. I was assisting with rear security when my interpreter, fatigued, stepped away to rest and unfortunately triggered an IED. The blast threw me to the ground, and all I could hear was the ringing in my ears and her screams. I quickly got back on my feet and, with my commanding officer, began providing life-saving care. She lost one leg, and the other was barely hanging on. A fellow soldier also lost his eyesight from shrapnel. I share this experience, though I have others, to emphasize that I have skin in the game and I stand behind Pete’s views on female service members and physical standards. Secretary of Wars leadership is exactly what our military needs - we need standards not suggestions!
