I left Gaza yesturday. My heart and my soul are still there with my patients. I remember their names and their wounds. I will fight until they receive the treatment they need and the justice they deserve. My heart is broken in ways I never knew was possible.

Without the devilish sounds of the drones. Without the stench of the bodies of their mothers, brothers, siblings and grandparents, buried in the ruins of their bombed family homes Just sleep. Safe.

"Where are my children?" Everytime there is an air raid and the wounded are brought in in droves. That is what you hear from the both the wounded adults and the survivors. Where are my children? As a parent it still makes my heart stop.

Maisara is more than a brother to me. We spent COVID time in our flat in Leeds. He was one of the most talented, intelligent, established, and dedicated people I know. He was a medical doctor with a speciality in women's health. He did his master's degree at London Kings Colledge, and he returned to Gaza to help his people and be with his family.

My best friend Maisara came to London two months ago for his honeymoon. He was lively and happy and joyful. And now it is more than 30 hours since his home was bombed and no one can retrieve his body or the bodies of his family from under the rubble.

UNICEF has been able to contact only a few of its humanitarian staff in the Gaza Strip.   The situation in Gaza is horrific.   We say it again: We demand an immediate humanitarian ceasefire & safe access. 
The killing or captivity of any child is an outrage. It must stop.
