Even more worrying than ITV and #ImACeleb trying to humanise Farage - whose hateful rhetoric & his division are well documented - is the treatment of him as just another marmite contestant. He is trying to win over a new audience for his xenophobia. Or, to put it another way, trying to lay the groundwork for another generation of hate by seducing people into thinking he’s just a decent bloke who “tells it like it is”. And no, I’m not watching it. I don’t need to, to be aware of the implications for people of colour in this country. After Braverman and her hate speech presented as normal political discourse on live tv, now we have Farage who spouts the kind of thing I grew up with in the 70s being feted on mainstream outlets by supposedly progressive presenters, some of whose production staff’s mother tongue he says he hates hearing on public transport. Hate is selling. And millions of people are (unwittingly) buying it.

Sunak says imposing a blanket 20mph limit is not right. The interviewer points out its not blanket. Sunak ignores him & repeats it. The interviewer again says its not a blanket ban. Sunak says thats not quite right. The interviewer points out language is important. Not to Sunak!
