such a poor demo for an argument to display characters in motion and then essentially just a standing group image, it'd have maybe come off a lot better starting with them individually before closing off with them actually animated
"what can you tell from these"
Rindo wears a face mask, it's for reasons other than Covid, but if you look at it like that, it's a pretty easy indicator he doesn't want to be around people more than necessary; How true to character that is, is slightly up to interpretation. Him looking at his phone and keeping his head down while walking the (busy) streets of Shibuya says enough about how he'd act.
Fret obviously cares about his looks, multiple ear piercings, hair is pushed up like a Roosters crown-thing to some extent, and from his non-group pose(s), It's easy to tell what kind of person he is; The short intro-loop of him walking before his eye is caught by a girl and how he acts later made him koo-koo for Kanon something unsurprising, but the actual depth about it more than surprising.
if you can't tell a thing about nagi based on appearance, holy hell dog, i see those glasses and my brain screams "unappreciated glasses-kun" or Otaku, I think she's quite literally the strongest visual depiction of what she's about
Neku, Shiki, Beat, Rhyme and Josh, all look incredibly diverse to some extent, Neku doesn't "scream" KH, but when I was younger and hadn't touched CoM or TWEWY, I thought they were from the same series based on the artstyle alone and that I had missed something.
Shiki has a strong enough visual design to tell you she's very about fashion, Beat and Rhyme are related, their outfits have matching aspects, Josh looks very "normal" comparatively, and that's not unsettling, but it's so "plain" that it's weird.
I think if this person has come out of TWEWY, and is going into NEO TWEWY they should be more than aware of the different types of fashion and the fact that time has actively passed in and out of universe and clothing trends are going to be different, so it feels kind of funky to expect people who ARE incredibly different from one another to have a sort of uniform design language; Rindo's outfit is the only one that ever felt slightly off, and that was just on account of his outer-coat thing, and just for about the first 30 minutes until i went "i fw it"

Trying explain why a gacha games designs are bland and soulless (a common take you hear and not too hard to explain) so you use TETSUYA NOMURA designs as the example and comparison point for bland designs???????

the companions places in the story and reason for implementation are completely different
Navi was there as help first (mechanic implementation), character fifth (essentially just being there to guide the player mainly and having very few story related lines)
Tatl was there as character first (placement in story), help second (mechanical usage being the same as Navis)
Midna was there as character first, plot device second, help third.
Navi does an okay job at delivering necessary information to someone actually playing the game unfamiliar with the common tropes or making the transition to 3d, but is awful at getting to be a character- Initial characterization of criticizing Link for being lazy and doubting if he'd really be able to shoulder Hyrules fate, vs never really commenting on the actual events going on in the game.
Tatl does a great job at delivering necessary information, while also keeping it all in character throughout the entire game. She reacts to a lot of the events going on and has things to say about them, but doesn't speak in literally every cutscene.
Midna does a great job, I'm not a big fan of her character, but replaying TP and fucking around with warping objects to piss her off made her character more endearing, but I think besides a the character and people understandably loving shortstack Imps with attitude (godbless), She's every warp song, a transformation item, an attack item and 85% of the character movement after Kakariko village when it comes to cutscenes, plus she's got an actual physical appearance beyond light orb with wings, so mf's love that shipping.
If Navi got to be more of a character, i doubt she'd be as reviled, but we don't live in that timeline
English

I think its genuinly intresting how old 2010 internet sold Navi as the most annoying character in the world. I honestly can't recall her stopping the game to give me a single hint beyond how to use ur slingshot in the first dungeon, and how keys work in the forest temple

I know, the "(allegedly)" was in reference to the novels moreso than the games.
The bosses are the majority of any kind of demonic character we get that easily expresses their views, but even with that, sources like Trish (who i think 4 managed to do hardcore character assassination on), Lucia, to some extent, Credo (Assumedly would've been the same as the others who underwent the change to get Demonic Powers, but either kept himself to a degree, or managed to come back thanks to his clear love for both Kyrie, and Nero), along with Griffon (Both DMC1 and his 5 incarnation) all do a good job at showing that Demons (and sometimes the Demon adjacent) have the capacity to be more than they are, so it's possible for me to get behind the idea of there potentially being more Demons than just Sparda who might've been capable of expressing something other than hate or murderous contempt for Humans, even Belial in 4 definitely thinks Humans/Halfbreeds are below him, but also allowed Nero to just walk past until he did his shit and put the fires in the area out in a single swing and drew his interest.
I think there's enough variety in their characters that they do all have really strong personalities that go beyond being D1 Sparda haters, especially when taking 3 into account and we have more Demons that could potentially end up being on the more noble side of things. Cerberus is a total homie, and rather than just immediately trying to kill Dante tells him to get lost, Nevan definitely does try to kill Dante, but she's also much more chill with it than someone like Beowulf.
The first Anime/Madhouse DMC did a good enough job at expressing that there are more Demons that exist in the world that are able to attempt to exist alongside humanity.
Shankar may cry *Almost* runs a nearly believable plot (But not the characters writing), but besides the "Human" Demons basically just being Humans with a different skin tone and some horns and being a stand-in for actual people (this is bad), it takes so much of the natural themes of the series and tosses them to the side and that's just bad.
I just don't think trying to inject something that wasn't really needed in any capacity into a loved series that has a lot of cool shit, on top of the strong themes of love, responsibility and the duty of the strong in an extremely unsubtle and just kind of halfassed way was the way to go in any capacity. People can have their beliefs, and express them too, but using a series people care about as a vehicle for heavy handed political beliefs and reveling in the fanbases dislike as if it's validating you is just bad taste imho
English

@lmjink @elidenueve @NetflixGeeked Well here’s the thing Sparda’s rebellion was special, he did it alone, and every boss in Devil May Cry speaks in contempt of Sparda and his offspring.
English

I think it's fine to be able to express your thoughts, but when it's done in such a shitty and condescending way, AND you're flat out wrong while trying to provoke an argument out of someone else, you just need to put that energy somewhere else.
I had a longer reply that I'm like 300% sure they didn't read, but there's a ton in what he says that just turns into triple question marks the moment you actually read it and think about it for half a second.
This "thing" literally made me hate hearing people talk about being "immersed" in a game when I got to the part about them for some reason also ignoring the entire line from Mipha about checking the Shiekah Slate (Something brought up constantly by the characters in the game, and something Link is actively shown to pull up, in universe to do a variety of task.) when it's said in a text box as well, and has another on screen pop up directly afterwards.
You CANNOT tell me you are "immersed" and ignore the shit characters are saying while also thinking "yeah im link im da hero!!!" when it's super unreasonable to assume that Link would, for any reason be actively ignoring his long dead allies voice trying to guide him through a dangerous situation that could determine the fate of the world, and the person he's trying to save.
English

@lmjink @MagicMushMM I think this just proves that some people just have way too much time on their hands.

@Nal_Nex @Shitpost_Media_ she's great, i had a blast with the game itself, fun world and plenty of oddballs, lost my savefile but that's fine since i know how the market works

Arc System Works announced a game where you run immigration for aliens coming to earth: nichegamer.com/arc-system-wor…
English

i think it's entirely fine to not like the systems in a game, but when you write so much, insist that you have to be right while so much of the information in what you've written is wrong, it really does feel like your only actual argument is the length of what was written, and PRAYING someone else doesn't come along that might be unhinged enough to reply and point out the parts where you were wrong
English

one of the worst, most pseud replies i've ever had the displeasure of reading quoted this video and that's how i found out about the video, because when i had seen it, i had actively chosen to not watch it
shit was fine at first but seeing how they talked to the person they were actually replying to, and tried to paint a "colorful fantasy" while also actually lying about stuff that happens in the game (the game never told me pause to see the map of the divine beast, this is unfair!!!) had me inspired at 3 in the morning and i tore that shit down

English

if direct at what i said, not at all
entirely fine to not like that they're depicting something that previously had nothing to do with the series or the way it actually handled demons
demons previously being beings that were above humanity, and the events that surrounded them usually leading to a lot of death, or at least being incredibly dangerous to anyone who wasn't a protagonist suddenly shifting to making it a two-way street without an actual good explanation that uses information actually established within canon (IE, Nico's reports in 5 that Demons "evolve" based off their desire) and instead just kind of hand wave it to a point where none of that actually matters because the writers have something they want to shove onto the viewers IS a completely valid reason to not enjoy it.
I can believe there would be Demons who would want to live alongside Humanity from the games, novels, and information from inside the established lore, but it's MUCH harder for me to believe that those same Demons who likely would have been descended from the ones who (allegedly) fought alongside Sparda, or were inspired by him would be effectively nothing but nearly Human outside of their appearance.
If the events of 3, 4, 5 and 2 (IE, a City being wiped out/decimated, a Religious cult worshiping Sparda intending to take over the world or more, a Demonic tree springing out of the earth and wiping a city off the map and creating a hole between the realms, and a Megacorp owner having been a Demon, developing humanoid Demons and trying to ascend to a level higher than Mundus) happened in that universe, I could absolutely see it being a far more mainstream thing for that kind of treatment to exist in universe, but it's like they tried to intergrate "normal" responses into the universe without taking into account the series tone when it does come to things and just said "wOuLdN't It Be CoOl?!" and that sucks.
English

@lmjink @elidenueve @NetflixGeeked I hate the fact they had to turn the show into some commentary about bombing demons is somehow bad?

Black Rose is my home girl, but Alkaid is the one and only, when I found out about the marriage options in .Hack GU, you already know who I was gunning for

UZXCrimsonAvenger@Erzo_UZX
Back in my middle school days, I typed "Anime girl with swords" and this image popped up. I didn't even know who Alkaid was back then, nor did I know she was from Dot Hack From this render alone, she was the first Dot Hack character I drew via free hand and I wish I still had it
