I had been avoiding trying @SouthwestAir new model. My route today required it. No better airfare, $35 for one bag, Group 7 boarding. After decades of loyalty, SWA has now become my airline of last resort.

A statement from the family of Alex Pretti, obtained by CNN: "We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed. Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you."

Getting record investments in the US? Bringing factories back. Bringing crime down? What in the world are you people protesting?

Here's a chart of historical housing starts per 1,000 households. - In the late 1930s we were building anywhere from 500 to 700,000 units a year which equated to 15-20 units per 1000 households. - Post WW2 that ramped up to over a million units, peaking at 1.9 million units in 1950, or 44 units per 1000 households. We have never built at this rate since. - There was a massive building boom in the 40s and 50s (GI bill, building the suburbs). - At the trough of the GFC correction we were building 5 units per 1000 households (a series low) and we are currently only building about 11 per 1000 households (about the same as in 1991). We need to increase the sheer amount of construction in this country to not only keep up with new demand every year but also make up for the underbuilding that has now been occurring for decades.

Housing supply is, finally, being directly addressed in a presidential election policy proposal. This could help make housing more accessible to low- and middle-class citizens. #housing wsj.com/politics/elect…
