Phenomenal. Bar-tailed Godwit has broken its own record: a first-year bird (five months old!) has flown 13,560 km—just shy of the direct flight limit of a Boeing 787—from Alaska to Tasmania, seemingly non-stop, in just 11 days (avg. speed: c.51 km/hr).

New satellite imagery research led by @OttawaU becomes the first to identify a North Atlantic right whale from SPACE! The team was able to pinpoint NARW no. 3530, a.k.a. Ruffian. Find out how now: phys.org/news/2022-10-s…

@Muffung @chrisalbon Tweet-length, no. At article length, maybe today, but it's an arms-race: you just make "seems human!" score the value you optimize the model for.
English

@chrisalbon Is it somehow possible to infer a probability whether or nor a text was written by GPT3 or any other LK Model?

So far, @xamarinhq had the best t-shirts. Simple, bright colors and minimalist designs.

@dvdsgl In natural selection, diversity is a huge driver of optimization since recombination gives you 25% chance to get benefit A from P1 and disparate benefit B from P2. Homogeneous gene pools don’t evolve as quickly. Suspect same weakness with GPT-5s co-creating.

@praeclarum That was such an intense use of ML! I really liked the part where the ML reacted to the movie. I also liked how it set up future ML movie reactions.

As a little art project, I had GPT-3 react to watching Star Wars. It turned out pretty fun to watch (I think) with some expected and not-so-expected reactions. Curious what an AI thinks of our beloved movie? Watch to find out: youtu.be/PcOJM2Xy6u4

@KyleCranmer @GadiNBC But raises the question of why many people aren't simultaneously reporting a phenomenon visible over such a wide area. Maybe the light/reflection is directional (similar to satellite "flares")? Motion doesn't seem consistent with free-fall orbit, though.
English

@GadiNBC "In the direction of the Big Dipper" doesn't really make sense if it's in the atmosphere. People in different locations will see different stars in the background. It would need to be way above the atmosphere for people to see the same background stars.

Are you a commercial or private pilot that has seen UAP's flying in racetrack patterns in the direction of the Big Dipper? My DM's are open. CC #ufoTwitter

From skies over Missouri to above the Pacific Ocean, commercial airline pilots have recently captured videos that depict unidentified aerial phenomena across the U.S. @GadiNBC reports on the possible otherworldly sightings.
