This makes Reflect a promising Obsidian alternative for me
Reflect@reflectnotes
Today we’re releasing Reflect Open, a complete rewrite of Reflect for the age of AI. It’s local-first and open source, and every note is stored as a Markdown file on your computer.

Zig creator really calling out Bun for "Skill issue" 😭
Herrington Darkholme@hd_nvim
Zig's creator accuses Bun, the most famous Zig project before its Rust rewrite. Should programming language creators think more about directing users instead of blaming them?
English

Yeah, if you can blatantly rig the system like this, the sky's the limit 😂

Pretty happy so far, and guess what, it somehow uses less memory that Zed which I just installed with zero extra extensions

VSCode has become AI bloatware, I use Codex app and I need none of that, so I switched to VSCodium, which reminds me of the early days when VSCode was still fast and light.
English

@localhost_5173 base zed should be around 200-300, depending on platform & gpu drivers etc, it must be LSPs that are the main contributors
English

@localhost_5173 There are some things that were kinda strange initially e.g. the git panel, which I'm not 100% sold on.
What are some things you wish were different/better?
English

@metruzanca definitely, i would instantly switch if it had similar ux to vscode
English

@localhost_5173 When I use agentic workflows, `zed .` opens instantly and I can get away with having multiple instances of zed in different projects. With any version of vscode that tends to not scale well. So for use with worktrees zed is better IMO.
English

@metruzanca yeah it's mostly the language servers, so for me zed is not much better in terms of speed or memory usage
English

@localhost_5173 So what are you running in both these tools?
Zed only consumes that much memory when:
- the LSP it's calling is using that much memory.
- terminals it spawned running an AI agent use that much memory.
English

@localhost_5173 claude code in terminal next to a stripped editor is basically the same setup
