👍@TheAHDB @AHDB_BeefLamb Great work. Now time to use the same determination and many of same arguments to get the BBC Climate Change Food Calculator taken down. As a reference tool it continues to mislead long after any single programme has been forgotten. @WillJAgri @janelkingy

@TheAHDB 👏👏👏👏👏 - Well done @TheAHDB @AHDB_BeefLamb - so important to challenge & debunk the inaccurate information published in cyberspace! @HertsFarmer @MarkBCLA @Minette_Batters @JoeWStanley @JonathanR_CLA @AW_ARobinson @loftusfarms

Most people who advocate doing something ‘slower’ [restricting immigration] don’t want it doing at all. Turn this ‘thought experiment’ around and you would have open borders. It’s just a question of balance.
Nick von Westenholz@nvonwestenholz

Ever wondered about the UK's immigration policy being based on reserving low-paid jobs for domestic workers? This post sets out really well why the government's immigration/labour policy may be more about levelling-down than levelling-up.

This is an important & overdue acknowledgement by the IPCC. But will attempts to reach net zero still continue to conflate long and short lived GHGs? Is it time to move to Warming Equivalent Emissions, and ditch CO2e? @DefraGovUK @CFG_Farmers @CLANorth @NFUtweets

#IPCCAR6 Ch7 pg123 'Expressing methane emissions as CO2 equivalent emissions using GWP-100 OVERSTATES the effect of constant methane emissions on global surface temperature BY A FACTOR OF 3-4 [...] while understating the effect of new methane emission source by a factor of 4-5'.

Thanks @FarmersWeekly for taking the time to interview me about the work of the @CFG_Farmers on ruminant methane. This is a topic that will have a huge bearing on the future of cattle & sheep farming.

Achieving climate neutrality [on current metrics] could mean eliminating practices, such as ruminant agriculture, that are not actually causing global warming.”Professor Allen, University of Oxford

Good to see Myles Allen and Adrian Macey raising the issue of CO2 equivalence In this weeks @TheEconomist Surely it’s long overdue to have a discussion about duel reporting at the very least to ensure we better account for methane.

The @CFG_Farmers have been doing great work raising awareness of new ways of methane accounting. This is vital for the future of UK livestock farming- this article from NZ explains why the UK has got its methane accounting very wrong.
Commercial Farmers Group@CFG_Farmers

Words we would do well to heed. Plain fact is short-lived GHGs must be treated differently or we ransom the future for the sake of short term gains. We urge @lorddeben @beisgovuk @theCCCuk @DefraGovUK to be steered by science & support dual accounting (GWP*+GWP100) as minimum.

There is no longer any doubt that Nicola Sturgeon lied to the Scottish Parliament and broke the Ministerial Code. She must resign. No evidence she can provide will counter the claims of witnesses or refute that ignoring the legal advice cost £500,000 of taxpayers’ money.

After rapid product development I'm delighted to launch the Cornagate! Designed for the farmer with only 1 set of hooks & no desire to fence a corner properly, it removes the age old problem of a centre post & saves having to decide which fence to put the gate in. DM for prices

@normanbagley1 @HertsFarmer @RobinMa93196033 I agree the best do it as well as they can, but it’s a relatively small % of overall supply, and it could be so much better with new measures that aligned with breeding goals. If you ask those ‘exclusive finishers’ they’ll tell you how much they wish for more consistent stores..

@loftusfarms @HertsFarmer @RobinMa93196033 Most source from exclusive finishers, some from breeder finishers but less so. On genetics that’s out with my competence. It’s more than a “good story” if underpinned with other benefits like DNA for example which is reason for our work in this area. Genetics benefits then too

@normanbagley1 @HertsFarmer @RobinMa93196033 Norman..none of your members source exclusively from breeder finishers! They have zero control over the genetics of the beast. Even if they did, there are not adequate measures of MEQ on which to base genetic selection. So you’re right... it’s ‘a good story’... nothing more.

@loftusfarms @HertsFarmer @RobinMa93196033 Sole purpose of short dedicated supply chains is to avoid exactly that scenario and produce consistent high eating quality thro selection of live animal to suit, feed regime, modern maturation procedures to match or better any imports hence premiums. A good local story helps too
