Studios' leadership within Xbox detest Game Pass, according to Jason Schreier “There are a lot of people out there in studio leadership within Xbox who absolutely detest Game Pass and think it has destroyed the value of their games. Think it has taken away from the value of all games in general just as a service and just has contributed a lot of just; it's been a detriment to the games industry and those people's views because of how it devalues games.” Jason speculates Game Pass will move away from Day One games in the future. “I think they keep it going, but at some point they're just going to remove day-one sales cuz that makes no sense anymore.”

Can Asha Sharma fix Game Pass' flawed business model without alienating Xbox fans who are now conditioned to the subscription?

Gamesbeat: "The cuts came as id’s team was toying with different game ideas including a John Wick-style original game called Fury; a new game in the Perfect Dark franchise; and a multiplayer/co-op version of Doom. It’s not clear which game, if any, the remaining team can do." gamesbeat.com/inside-a-studi…

I honestly don’t get how any real gamer is looking at the Xbox layoffs and thinking it’s a bad thing. This is a straight-up win for us. The industry got way too bloated; endless studios, massive spending, and too many projects that weren’t connecting with players. It needed a big reset, and that’s exactly what Asha is delivering. No more fluff. Back to focusing on making the games people actually want to play. As a fan, I couldn’t be more excited. Leaner team, sharper focus, and real quality over quantity. The future is BRIGHT! 💚💚💚 #XBOX @XboxTimdog

George Broussard says he has heard from an internal source that Xbox could close several studios and will be like “the meteor that took out the dinosaurs.” He isn’t sharing the names but says the information came from someone inside the company. Broussard said that if the information is true, it could be the biggest round of layoffs the gaming industry has ever seen. He also claims that even the studios that stay open will face layoffs. “If it’s even close to true (and it’s from inside), this will likely be the largest single layoff event in gaming history.” “Xbox is going to be supremely unpopular for a very long time, and the devastation is going to reverberate like the meteor that took out the dinosaurs.”

Dear gaming community, For a good while, it has been all positive news from IO Interactive. We remain humbled and honored by the response to our latest outing with a young, unproven Bond. A bold new story and a take on one of the most famous characters in entertainment, which the world has embraced with love. However, today we have to share some more downbeat news. A relationship with an external partner on our own IP, Project Fantasy, has come to an end. This means we have to adapt to this new reality and its short-term consequences, including staffing decisions, which is what is happening as we write this update, and we are fully committed to supporting those affected through this challenging transition. Project Fantasy is a game, a world, and an IP that we absolutely love and remain 100% committed to, now and in the future. This wonderful universe will see the light of day.
