The 18 captured Cambodian soldiers were released this morning, December 31, after 155 days of detention by the Thai Second Army Region that began on July 29. This morning, the Thai military bombed and shelled the Choam border area in Anlong Veng district. A Thai fighter jet dropped bombs on a mountain in Anlong Veng, described as the last former Khmer Rouge stronghold.

A civilian vehicle was struck by shrapnel from Thai shelling on the outskirts of Poipet this morning. Passengers inside were injured. This is what the Thai military calls “collateral damage.”
