Not just Samay, all Kashmiris in other colleges also.. one day I was bunking college in Mumbai and a professor I absolutely hated said to the class “wo gori ladki aaj nahi aayi”. I couldn’t even take leaves without getting noticed. Call it privileged thinking but it also became a trap many times. Also not ignoring the nazar for gori chamdi that some people have in general. You can pull me down for this but it’s true. Some people just see skin and prettiness and just forget what outstanding work I’ve done. And so since I joined offices and again saw the gaze of a few old men in them, I started dressing down. So much so that I became shabby out of habit. Even now it takes me a lot of convincing to get ready because what’s the point with certain people?! They just see colour or the absence of it

Mumbai takes a lot. It takes my energy on the commute, my patience in the endless bheed, and my health in the hustle. But in exchange, it gave my daughters the moon. Growing up in Jammu and Delhi, the streets felt different. They felt heavy. I remember the public buses; I remember being my daughter’s height and feeling the need to shrink. In this city, my girls can move, dress, and laugh without looking over their shoulders. If I have to drag my ankles through the grind to keep them here, I will. Because their freedom: the right to exist without fear..is worth every traffic jam. The boardrooms are next. We’re coming for that equality. But to the other cities: catch up. Your women shouldn't have to choose between their home and their safety.

@lonchpad007 @IamTheStory__ Not a legal expert, but pakistan was not a member of hague convention until recently. So any attestation of marriage certificate has to go through indian mea. Since these guys were fugitives, doubt that mea would have done that .... assuming they were submitted in the first place

#Abhinandan did attempt to escape after a brave operation that shot down a Pakistani aircraft in their territory. There was no opportunity to launch rescue operation because before it could be lauched he was already in Pakistan military custody. But what people do not know that reason he was quickly returned.
