The South Carolina Senate just invoked cloture on the second reading of the bill to redraw the state's congressional map. Republicans are on the verge of their 17th nominal redistricting pickup of the cycle. Not all of these seats are going to flip in November. Democrats are favored to hold OH-1 and TX-28, for example. But many of these seats are essentially guaranteed to flip.

The majority of state constitutions explicitly vest redistricting power in the legislature, not the executive. In NC, the Governor is constitutionally barred from vetoing maps.
You can’t "solve" gerrymandering by inviting 50 people to a room who don’t hold the pens. Without the lawmakers who actually control the process, this is just high-level LARPing and expensive political theater.
