The South Carolina Senate just invoked cloture on the second reading of the bill to redraw the state's congressional map. Republicans are on the verge of their 17th nominal redistricting pickup of the cycle. Not all of these seats are going to flip in November. Democrats are favored to hold OH-1 and TX-28, for example. But many of these seats are essentially guaranteed to flip.

@bearmf @sleepy_devo Yes, and it tends to lock in their current advantage. They're also the party that is ok with removing these commissions if they don't get the outcomes they like, change laws and rules, or threaten to remove the people in charge. CA and VI are just two examples.

@deadbeef333 @sleepy_devo You should read *why* they voted no. -Federal over reach into state election processes. -This would have locked in, for at least a decade, of Dem gerrymandered states, so it was political timing. -It would have favored Dems when it came to drawing maps.
