We don’t really have the luxury of pragmatism in Ukraine anymore, which is why I asked the difficult question. From this side of the war, Trump has undermined Ukraine at almost every turn, freezing aid, attacking support packages, repeating Kremlin narratives, publicly attacking Zelensky and now easing pressure on Russian oil while Ukrainians continue dying under daily missile and drone strikes. Every delay, every mixed signal, every political stunt has consequences here, it’s just how far will that support go?

🇺🇦🇪🇺 Budanov: Ukraine must join the EU. We must do everything to make it happen quickly. And you all must help us, because Ukraine cannot wait decades for this event. Of course, we will listen to your advice, but you must also not forget the realities we find ourselves in now. None of the countries have encountered anything like this on the way to the EU. In Konotop, Sumy region, a body was found under the rubble after a russian attack. 3 people were saved from the rubble, and rescuers are still working.

I held a Staff meeting. We analyzed in detail the available data from our intelligence agencies on Russia’s planning of offensive operations in the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction. We are preparing responses to every possible course of enemy action – if the Russians do indeed dare to expand their aggression. Our forces in this sector will be increased. We are also reviewing the possibilities of our external activity – I instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to prepare additional measures of diplomatic influence regarding Belarus, which Russia may use for such an expansion of the war. Relevant non-public tasks have also been assigned to Ukrainian intelligence services. As for the Russian directions, we are preparing to expand the reach of our long-range sanctions, which have already proven themselves very effective, and to more tangibly compel Russia to reduce its aggression. We also took note of information about Russia’s preparations for new mobilization steps – plus 100,000 people. We believe that, as of today, Russia lacks such potential for covert mobilization, so we should expect Russian political decisions of another format, including those like the recent one regarding the Transnistrian region of Moldova. Ukraine will certainly defend itself, and right now our task is to strengthen our state so that none of Russia’s five scenarios for expanding the war through northern Ukraine succeeds. Ukraine has what is called Ghost paperwork. It's when the paper exists, but it doesn't.... Or it does, and you know it does... They say it doesn't is no where. I think it's some sort of witches' curse to keep russia from ever really organizing, but I dunno. Seems very iffy, with too much woo-woo if you know what I mean 🫣 to be accidental.. Maybe make a sage offering, be like, hey, here to add good ju-ju, can please pass your administration boundary? Add a thank-you and try again the the next day. I know how this sounds. Try it anyway, after years here there are just things at play we don't always understand.

Okay, so, I’m in a bit of a weird situation. For some reason that I cannot comprehend, it’s in some system somewhere that I have Ukrainian citizenship. I don’t. But I ran into my second incident where customs did not believe I’ve never had Ukrainian citizenship, even though my passport clearly states I was born outside of Ukraine. If my birthright is somehow in a system, I’d be extremely impressed because Ukraine figured those documents out before I did. I need to get this sorted by either getting a TRP or a visa for the next time I return, which is very soon. At minimum, probably a letter stating that I’m getting this figured out. I plan to go back and forth/in and out of Ukraine for the foreseeable future, and I need to do this legally, not just to follow Ukrainian law but also to follow US & Canadian law. A TRP would be preferable because of my US citizenship, but I don’t want to spend upwards of $500 for it because unfortunately, being a volunteer is expensive and that’s the reason we fundraise (and spend all of our discretionary funds on staying in Ukraine) I plan on contacting a lawyer as soon as my travels are complete. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to find a way to do this cheaply. Any advice would be appreciated.
