Sentencing is set for August 27. She faces a maximum of just 7 years in prison. This case exposes the dark underbelly of online sexual depravity that our institutions treat as a fringe fetish instead of the calculated evil it is. A 33-year-old woman actively funded the live torture of baby monkeys for sexual kicks and mainstream media barely blinks. Our sentencing guidelines are a disgrace. Capping this horror at 7 years tells every predator in every dark corner of the web that the price for commissioning and distributing videos of baby animals being tortured to death is cheap. When society normalizes paying to watch living creatures suffer for sexual gratification, it signals that no boundary is sacred. The same predators who start with animals often graduate to worse.
