Hey @Tesla_AI my Model Y using FSD v 14.1.4 saved me from a sideswipe accident today! 🤯 I couldn't even see it coming because it was in my blind spot - but the left repeater camera caught this car swerving into me and moved me over suddenly but smoothly before I even knew it was happening! This first clip shows pretty much what I saw within a split second of moving over (B-pillar camera view).

Good luck! Back in the 80s I wanted to go see a launch….then space camp….but I was just a kid and these things weren’t in my parents’ budget. It’s only been since 2022 since our kids are older that I’ve gotten to go to Kennedy Space Center (the Atlantis exhibit is spectacular) and see an up close, about 10 miles away launch, a Falcon 9. One of our kids is now really interested in NASA and space flight—he’s majoring in mechanical engineering and looking for a summer internship! I’m excited for kids these days. Looks like we’re going back to the moon for real now, and on to Mars🚀✨

@lorigilbertlac I go to Southern California, San Bernardino and Soboba, a few times a year to fly my paraglider. Last year twice I almost managed to catch a jellyfish, but each time they had to scrub the mission due to weather concerns. Hope to finally get lucky this year!

Falcon 9 launch tonight — visible from 200 miles north! Starlink mission out of Vandenberg ✨🚀 A curious neighbor came up to us to ask what we were looking at. I’m always happy to educate others 🤩

Thanks! I wish I had gotten to see the shuttle like that. The closest I got to a shuttle during one of its missions was when I was in a NASA fan club in college and one day we decided to drive down to Edwards’s AFB and “see” a night landing. We were just kinda out in the middle of the desert since no one wanted to pay $$ to enter properly to the public viewing area. Lol it was so dark, and out of the blue there was the double sonic boom! Then a few minutes later after it landed, we saw it on the runway under the floodlights. 😂

That's beautiful footage! Way back during the shuttle days, I forget which one it was, I got to see a shuttle reentry from El Paso Texas. It was pretty far to the south, and I didn't have decent video equipment back then. This was pre smartphone. But one thing was very cool and stood out in my mind all these years. You could see it brighten and dim as they did the roll maneuvers. From my perspective, the path looks straight, but it was obvious that they were doing the role maneuvers to assist in aerobraking.

Wow… with my sunglasses on, I literally fell asleep the entire 1-hour drive from Napa to San Francisco on Tesla FSD. I just woke up in the city, fully rested… It handled every mile perfectly while I was out cold... How come FSD never told me to wake up?

This is what it’s like to be in the “sandwich generation”—you’re a parent to your kids and also helping out your own parents—it’s good to have your kids help out their grandparents a little, if they can. It opens their minds to how you might be in need of some of their help, love, and care when you’re elderly.
goma@soigomaa

After a certain age, your parents slowly become your children. They ask simple questions, repeat stories, and depend on your patience the way you once depended on theirs. Very few understand this role reversal. What looks like innocence or inconvenience is really time coming full circle. Don't correct them harshly. Don't rush them. Care for them the way they once protected you. This is not a burden. It is repayment.

Thanks so much Jonathan! I appreciate it. I’m definitely not going to be able go out there, but maybe another time there will be a better trajectory for (me) viewing. I had gotten such a great view of the Crew-11 reentry in January from NorCal that I always want to find out when another off the west coast landing will occur.

@lorigilbertlac Lori, I found the updated NOTAM which agrees with the Horizons path. So I'm now confident of this. And yes, alas, you'll need to take a cruise halfway to Hawaii to see the reentry.

New release of FSD Supervised now starting to roll out This update brings 20% faster reaction time to further increase safety, among many other improvements Full release notes below Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14.3 includes - Upgraded the Reinforcement Learning (RL) stage of training the FSD neural network, resulting in improvements in a wide variety of driving scenarios. - Upgraded the neural network vision encoder, improving understanding in rare and low-visibility scenarios, strengthening 3D geometry understanding, and expanding traffic sign understanding. - Rewrote the AI compiler and runtime from the ground up with MLIR, resulting in 20% faster reaction time and improving model iteration speed. - Mitigated unnecessary lane biasing and minor tailgating behaviors. - Increased decisiveness of parking spot selection and maneuvering. - Improved parking location pin prediction, now shown on a map with a (P) icon. - Enhanced response to emergency vehicles, school buses, right-of-way violators, and other rare vehicles. - Improved handling of small animals by focusing RL training on harder examples and adding rewards for better proactive safety. - Improved traffic light handling at complex intersections with compound lights, curved roads, and yellow light stopping – driven by training on hard RL examples sourced from the Tesla fleet. - Improved handling for rare and unusual objects extending, hanging, or leaning into the vehicle path by sourcing infrequent events from the fleet. - Improved handling of temporary system degradations by maintaining control and automatically recovering without driver intervention, reducing unnecessary disengagements. Upcoming Improvements - Expand reasoning to all behaviors beyond destination handling. - Add pothole avoidance. - Improve driver monitoring system sensitivity with better eye gaze tracking, eye wear handling, and higher accuracy in variable lighting conditions.

@mikepat711 It’s already saved me from an accident on the highway from a distracted driver who almost rammed into the side of my driver’s door —it’s my pinned post! I have no doubt FSD is safer than humans.

I’ve already gone through the psychological transition. I subconsciously feel way safer with FSD active vs not. When you’re manually driving after using 14.2 for thousands of miles, you become keenly aware of how much visibility you lack vs FSD, because you’ve gotten so used to/have taken for granted the advantage of 360 vision. I was looking back and forth the other day at an unprotected turn with fast-moving traffic, and as my head was ping-ponging back and forth, I was like “damn, this is fucking stupid and annoying.” You really realize how crippled your awareness is without constant 360 visual inputs protecting you.
Elon Musk@elonmusk

Tesla self-driving saves a lot of lives – the statistics are unequivocal. That doesn’t mean it’s perfect, of course. Even when we improve safety 10X, saving 90% of the million lives lost in auto accidents every year, Tesla will still get sued for the 10% who did die. The 90% who are still alive mostly won’t even know that Tesla saved them. Nonetheless, it is the right thing to do.

I applied for the night shift position in Houston. I'm a retired person, and this was the first job application I have actually filled out since 1996. But with so much on the line for scaling of Robotaxi, I decided to put my hat in the ring, and apply. I may not get the position, but that's okay. I love this company and want to see it succeed. And I may know a little bit about night shifts in Houston. Wish me luck!

@SERobinsonJr The hug was for astronaut Ried Wiseman —he had just made an emotional dedication to his late wife Carroll, requesting that a currently unnamed bright spot on the lunar surface be named after her.
