NEW: Iran may be attempting to maximize the effects of its limited capacity to launch large missile salvos at Israel by launching small missile salvos throughout the day to impose psychological effects on Israeli civilians by consistently forcing them to take shelter and keeping the country under constant alert. Iran is spreading out its launches throughout the day, often pausing for several hours between launches. Spreading out ballistic missile launches over a long period of time presumably increases the number of times per day that Israeli civilians must seek shelter. Other Key Takeaways: Such a strategy is suboptimal and likely reflects the US-Israeli combined force’s degradation of Iran’s ability to launch large-scale missile attacks. The combined force’s degradation of Iran’s missile capabilities has prevented Iran from consistently launching large-scale missile attacks against Israel during the current conflict, however. Iran has increasingly used cluster munitions in its attacks on Israel during the war, which likely reflects Iran’s inability to meaningfully threaten discrete military targets in Israel and efforts to inflict psychological effects on Israeli civilians. Ukraine and Saudi Arabia concluded a defense cooperation agreement on March 27. The Ukrainian Presidential Office reported that Ukraine will help Saudi Arabia with air defenses under the agreement, which also outlines the foundations for further contacts and includes technological cooperation and investments. The combined force has continued to disrupt Iran’s ability to launch missile attacks, including by disrupting Iranian efforts to regain access to missile launchers in underground bases. US Central Command (CENTCOM) published footage on March 27 showing that it struck bulldozers and loaders that Iran was likely using to try to clear debris and reopen tunnel entrances to underground facilities. The IDF struck Iranian nuclear infrastructure on March 27, including sites involved in plutonium production and the uranium fuel cycle. The IDF struck the Arak Heavy Water Production Facility in Arak, Markazi Province, following repeated Iranian attempts to restore the site following IDF strikes on the site during the June 2025 Israel-Iran War. The IDF also struck the Ardakan Yellowcake Production Plant in Yazd Province.

today we'll find out whether Russia will defy the US and deliver its cargo of 700,000 bbls of crude to Cuba via its government-controlled Sovcomflot tanker Anatoly Kolodkin, or whether it will do its own version of TACO.

Whenever I begin to question Sensei Fukuyama’s thesis, I come across something, like this video, that reminds me just how total the cultural victory of liberalism was at the end of the Cold War. Even explicitly anti-liberal movements now seek legitimacy through liberal concepts. Islamists may reject secularism, pluralism, and individual autonomy in substance, but they frame their struggle in the language of freedom, rights, citizenship, dignity, and popular sovereignty. In other words, they have abandoned the pre-modern Islamic world of ideas and its classical political vocabulary. They now operate, perhaps unknowingly, within a fully modern moral universe whose dominant legitimating language is unmistakably liberal. There is no going back to a pre-modern, pre-liberal world. Liberal conceptions are now the yardstick by which all ideologies are measured, and Islamists know that if their project of “Islamic freedom” fails, the people - who also embrace this liberal vocabulary - will take to the streets and demand their “rights” as “citizens.” It would take a systemic collapse on the scale of the fall of the Roman Empire in Western Europe, or even the Bronze Age collapse, to allow the reinvention of an authentically Islamic political and moral order. And this, my friends, is what a total Fukuyama victory looks like. His central argument, after all, was that liberalism represents an endpoint in political evolution, and that no rival philosophy or ideology would generate a more universally compelling language of political legitimacy. Time and again, he has been proven absolutely correct on that point. 😏 !الله، ليبرالية، فوكوياما، و بس

Exactly. A lot of Western “development economics” was never serious science in Africa; it was pretty much policy propaganda dressed up as expertise. For decades, Bretton Woods institutions financed and rewarded a class of economists whose real function was to rationalise deindustrialisation, fiscal retreat, trade dependency, and the preservation of Africa’s colonial place in the world economy: exporter of raw materials, importer of finished goods, permanently indebted, permanently lectured. That is why they pushed Structural Adjustment Programmes, and when that wreckage became impossible to defend, they rebranded the same anti-transformation logic through the SDGs: poverty management instead of structural change, indicators instead of industry, compassion theatre instead of power, production, and sovereignty. They are angry not because the critique is wrong, but because their intellectual bankruptcy is finally obvious.

Again, Western Development Economists inveighing against poor historical context in 1970s Africa, poor data, and sloppy causation over that article will never stop being funny to me. That’s your MO, fellas. You’re just angry cause you’ve been so wrong for 50 years.

People don’t want to admit it but this is how most of the world thought of this "conflict" until October 7th, now all energy sources and even food is being threatened. Sinwar made it your problem.

In order to understand the impacts of structural adjustment programs you would need to actually investigate the history and context of the countries affected. I don’t think coming up with some kind of clever A/B testing econometric thing is a meaningful method
