Is there a website for open source sewing patterns? Like GitHub or Thingiverse, but for making clothes.

GitHub's code review UI performs so badly with large patches that it's hindering my productivity. Can anyone recommend a good GitHub PR review tool that supports leaving comments on the PR? 🙏

"I worry that it might get very very difficult to maintain all of this complexity." 🤦 Nope. The work for multicursor *simplifies and improves* the internals. That's the *usual* approach we take. We don't just layer cruft on top of cruft, we find things to delete and unify, which makes things more reliable and maintainable, not less. I have articulated this in every talk I've given about Neovim. Vim's lack of "atomic commands" is a design flaw that should have been rectified long ago. Not doing that work doesn't "avoid complexity"; *au contraire*. Leveraging Atoms to implement multicursor is a relatively minor enhancement. And btw, multicursor placement is driven by Nvim extmarks, not a new system.
justinmk@justinmk

Neovim multicursor (local branch 😇) is in a "mergeable" state now (but you can see some bugs in this demo :D) This will quite literally be a killer feature: Vim will have no choice but to copy it (like :terminal and jobs). No changes needed from any plugin; everything Just Works, including "surround" plugins. Visual-mode and completion were the trickiest parts... The architecture is the Right Way: all user input is structured as Atoms. Plugins can subscribe to Atoms and react to literally any user action.

Real interview question is how to move away from design A before you run out of integers. Serial4 exhausts at ~2.1B, moving a pk to uuid means regenerating an index and if you don't know how to index stuff correctly you’ll blow the db. Also you cannot backfill with a migration - you’ll blow the db again. Even when you backfill, how do you ensure non-nullish values without running an unique query? Mid-level eng question imho

@louispilfold Congratulations! It's so fun! When you get a bit more control over it then doing a forward roll while you are up in support position (slowly) and then doing the final part of the muscle up again to get back to support. That one looks cool!

Small non-tech life boast: I did a muscle up on gymnastics rings yesterday for the first time! I wasn't even seriously trying, I just wanted to demonstrate the technique to someone. I was completely unable to do it a second time 😅

Took us a little while but @atuinsh is finally running @gleamlang in production as part of our larger Elixir app! The recent advancements in Elixir's gradual typing are exciting, but Rust has really spoiled me. Getting a good solid type system + OTP is an incredible combo

In today's release I reached out for my trusty old nylon string guitar to cover a song by a band who borrowed its name from the Goonie characters. Link in the comment 👇

@paulpowlesland We strongly support communities improving their local environment. It’s our responsibility to work with landowners to make sure activity doesn't cause unintended harm to the environment. We're investigating some unpermitted work on the River Roding but no decision has been made.

Good news! After decades of ignoring rampant environmental crime on the Roding, @EnvAgency has finally decided to act. Bad news! It’s not against Thames Water for illegally dumping billions of litres of sewage in the Roding, or the waste criminals who have dumped thousands of tonnes of rubbish on its banks, but against myself & a small volunteer charity for… restoring a river without a permit! Within a week of the magnificent work of River Roding Trust volunteers completing the arduous work of restoring 250 metres of the Aldersbrook this winter, EA investigators had been down to the site and rattled off a letter threatening us with prosecution for doing the work without a permit. This is despite the fact that the Trust have repeatedly asked the EA to do this vital work on the Aldersbrook themselves & they have refused. It is also despite the fact that they have not investigated the huge illegal sewage outlet on the Cranbrook a few hundred metres away, which illegally discharges 750,000,000 litres of raw sewage straight into the River Roding every year.

@fu5ha One of the bootc folks showed me how to do it for Ubuntu, but it was a lot more "here's the extra stuff one has to do for it to work for Ubuntu presently" and a lot less "here's how to do it generally", so I didn't get a good understanding of the best workflow.

@fu5ha I've some computers and rather than installing a distribution and then mutating it, I would like to do my configuration by writing a container file, building an image, and then deploying that image to the machine.

I really want to learn to use bootc to build and manage a Linux box, but I'm not sure how to get started. Does anyone know any guides or tutorials I can follow?

The rainbow is here all year long, so we don't need to change the profile for June. But it is a good time to remind everyone that LGBTQIA+ rights are under attack all year long as well. And to steal @HaskellOrg message: there would be no Gleam without trans people 🏳️‍⚧️
