What are the OSX designers smoking? The roundness in Tahoe is so bad. Was this is even QA’ed?

Today we are announcing big changes to the @tursodatabase platform. Some upcoming, some effective immediate. Those changes will allow us to narrow our focus, and let us go ALL IN in a renewed mission: delivering a modern open contribution rewrite of SQLite through the Limbo project - which shall be renamed to just "Turso" (soon). I wrote about why we are doing this, and what changes to current Turso users (link in the next tweet). The tl;dr: * we are removing edge replicas (now), and consolidating on AWS instead of Fly.io (soon) * We are removing multi-db schema changes and database attach (now) * We are setting the Hobby plan to $5 a month (soon). Unfortunately, to be able to execute on our mission, we had to let some of our people go. Letting people who who are doing a great job is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my career, and I am personally committed in helping them find a new home. I'd like to use some of the responses to this post to say a couple of words about them. Finally - stay tuned - we'll be hosting a Space here tomorrow to answer questions about this ambitious plan, and what having a new, modern version of SQLite means for our industry.

@DoverHq Hi, I know how to set up a CNAME. The issue here is that I would need a dedicated hostname from Dover to do so. Is that available in paid plans?

@lpgauth yep you can definitely set that up -- it's the same as any other CNAME you'd do with your nameserver (namecheap, cloudflare, etc) example instructions for cloudflare: community.cloudflare.com/t/how-do-i-add… lmk if that helps!

@DoverHq is there any way to setup a custom domain name or subdomain for the career page? Couldn’t find anything in the resource center.

I got laid off this afternoon! I wasn't expecting it. Nobody ever expects these things. Honestly it's a relief. My work load was insane and I desparately needed a change. If any of my homies out there know some place that's hiring engineers or engineering managers hit me up!

Big fan of all the managed DBs that offer 300$ credit to test out their offering. Much easier than setting up all the DBs!

I love HTTP 1.1 but we’re spending stupid amount on egress with just “204 No Content”. Wish it was a bit more bandwidth friendly.

Preference for handling money in the DB: 1) use decimal so there’s no loss of precision 2) multiply everything by 100 and use integers everywhere 1 or 2?

Still fighting with GKE Ingress / routing. For some reason I end up with 200K TCP SYN_SENT and it fills up my conntrack. I’ve already lowered the nf_conntrack_tcp_timeout_syn_sent to 60… I low can I go?

There goes 6 hours of debugging: “nf_conntrack: table full, dropping packet”

Is there an easy way to get actual backend latency in GKE hone using a global load balancer? I don’t care much about the routing in the internal Google network, only the last hop to my backend…
