Abbott promised to eliminate the STAAR test but he tripled it and renamed it instead, while kids in private school who get a taxpayer-funded voucher get a pass. People probably already explained, but it is called box method. It is just long division organized in a sideways method instead of the vertical most peeps learned. It is great for dyslexic and disgraphic students since it keeps everything very organized. Instead of subtract bring down. You subtract and bring it up and over.

I have a conspiracy theory. Coworker- “My daughter brought home her simple long division. I was about to help her with it, but she started drawing boxes and I have no idea what that is. I’m about to write a letter to the teacher.” I think they drastically switched up how math is done nationally because they don’t want parents to be able to help their kids. I think it’s intentional. 1) Breaks down communication between families. 2) Breaks away at the foundation of the parent in that the kids think the parents are dumb. 3) Or, it makes the kids think they themselves are dumb. 4) Math isn’t learned, or at least, not well learned.
