The pervasive argument that remote work kills creativity is an uncreative excuse for a lack of innovation. If you believe your company is not as creative as it should be because you haven't fully returned to the office, you have a bigger problem. I encourage you to ask these questions before you fall into the trap of thinking a physical office will make a quick and easy solve: + Do you give your team concrete goals?  + Do you measure the right inputs? + Do you ask people to make a lot of things and experiment with combining those ideas creatively? + Do you create diverse ideas and a safe place to share those ideas? + What do you, as a leader, accept? What do you praise? What do you punish? Be honest about your answers to these questions. I'm willing to bet they would be the same whether your team shares the same physical address or the same Slack channel. There is no cheat code for building a culture that prioritizes visionary ideas. It takes time, trial and error, and courage to create an environment – remote or in person – that fosters creativity.

Great to meet the people I work with at @Muckrack IRL at our all company retreat!
Greg Galant@gregory

Many people say it’s impossible to build culture in a distributed company and that an office is essential. Watching our team interact during our first @muckrack all company retreat in Mexico affirmed my belief that our culture is as strong as they come. Over 200 of us felt the camaraderie you’d expect from people who’d spent years together in the same building even though many were meeting in person for the first time. Spirits are high, and as a company that operated sustainably since inception, we’re still growing and hiring into 2024. Check out the careers page of our website if you want to join us! I left with a renewed sense of purpose to keep making Muck Rack better for our customers and employees, both of which are spread all over the world. At a time with so much fracturing, we believe better communication and a free press can help bring us all together. Onward!

I've been completely blown away by the response to this first post. Thank you all for the positive comments and the excitement. We are so early in this. Can't wait to see what Cook Well looks like in 1, 5, 10 years. I'll plan on sharing updates here as we go!

The average home cook’s user experience has been held hostage by recipe websites for the past few decades: 1) Bloated paragraphs of text 2) Pages packed full of ads on every scroll 3) No real focus on how to actually learn cooking from a recipe. Over the past 12 months, my team and I started building a new website and cooking company to change that…I’d like to introduce you to Cook Well.
