@DanClarkSports Bizarre? Two brothers effing around with dad in the middle. Probably did it on purpose knowing they would be on camera and people like you would post it.

@CinemaTweets1 Miles was good. He plays a husband who had been married 60+ years and acts like it. He convinces you that Larry never doubted his conviction to spending eternity with her. Only when he realizes he is going to lose her, he thinks of her happiness only. It's heartbreaking.

Eternity (🌟🌟🌟) is a good film for two reasons: Elizabeth Olsen & the writing. And when I say the writing, what I mean in particular is that this film has a strong premise. The story about a woman in the afterlife forced to choose between her first and second husband, Eternity feels like a breath of fresh air. Now, that breath of fresh air does come with certain flaws- flaws which I’ll get to within this review. But I think it’s important to give this original screenplay the credit it deserves. Eternity is a thoughtful, easy-to-digest film that I ultimately recommend. Joan (Olsen) and Larry (Miles Teller) have been married for decades & are now in their elder years. But before their marriage, Joan was briefly married to Luke (Callum Turner) before Luke died in the war. The idea here is that Larry- then shortly thereafter Joan- each die early on in the film and head to the afterlife. The afterlife here is filled with rules & conditions. For example, each individual has limited time to decide where they want to spend eternity. The crux of the story here- there real conflict- is that while Joan and Larry are in the afterlife deciding where to spend eternity, Luke shows up. Little did we know that for all these years, Luke’s been waiting for Joan so they can spend eternity together. The whole point being that Joan is now forced to choose between spending eternity with Luke or Larry, which leads to a special visa that allows Joan to “sample” eternal life with each husband. Those of you who’ve followed me long enough know how important Albert Brooks is to me & what he’s meant to me in my life. I say that with more weight than ever given Brooks’ lifelong, childhood friend Rob Reiner is no longer with us. But if you’ve seen Defending Your Life- an Albert Brooks classic- it’s impossible to separate that film from Eternity. And I say that as a compliment. Defending Your Life is an incredibly original story & Eternity borrows a lot of themes from that film- one of those themes being regret. Regret over the things we did or didn’t do while on this planet. What’s more is that, similar to Defending Your Life, Eternity asks big questions while also keeping the audience laughing. This is a film that is heavy at times and light at others. I’ve always felt that a sign of strong screenwriting is forcing the audience to think like the main character. How would I choose if I were in Joan’s shoes? What grace would I give to my lifelong partner? Would I be seduced by love that never was? It’s sort of impossible to watch a movie like Eternity and not consider these questions for yourself. And that’s why the written word means so much to cinema. Good writing can carry the day and make up for a lot of other blunders or mishaps elsewhere in a film. Here, the writing is extremely strong. I have to admit, however, I did not like the performances from this film’s two leading men- Callum Turner & Miles Teller. I thought they both weighed this film down significantly - especially Teller. Teller brought almost no charisma, no charm, and no brevity to this movie. I understand he’s playing the roll of “shlubby husband”, but I didn’t feel like he did a good job. I also felt like they both took on really corny accents that annoyed the hell out of me. I’m usually not this critical of a film’s performances, but it was hard to ignore that Turner & Teller didn’t offer much here. Elizabeth Olsen, however, offers a lot. She’s this film’s heartbeat & is totally magnetic. You really feel her absence in the scenes early on where she’s not yet arrived to the afterlife. But Olsen is sheer energy throughout the entire film & is the best part of this movie. I thought her performance was both relatable and vulnerable. We need more original films like Eternity.

@rebuildpr_ @Rebuild_p_r I can see heavy in the middle for sure. I think lightest should still be on top just for people's shoulders not to hoist what might be heavy for them.

@Y2John84 I thought it was brilliant. People were disappointed because they expected the typical movie with the big ending almost having to spell out the horror for them. If you did not have those expectations you watched it absolutely dreading when the sun would set.
