Are “split” resistance training programs more effective than full-body routines? - Split = specific muscle groups trained per session - Full body - all/most muscle groups trained Many believe they are - especially once a certain training status is attained. But this new meta-analysis suggests full-body and split routines elicit similar muscle growth and strength gain (over 4-12 weeks) - when total training volume is equal. This means the “ideal” routine is based on personal preference and what is most feasible to achieve the desired training volume. For me, I follow a split program because I prefer shorter but more frequent sessions across a week. If training less frequently, a full body program is likely needed to achieve the same volume (per muscle group). pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38595233/
