Compared to twenty years ago, kids are eating some types of ultraprocessed foods more and some types less🧵 For example, one thing there's proportionally less of is sugar-sweetened beverage consumption. Meanwhile, there's relatively greater sweet snack consumption.

It seems like healthcare diagnostics companies really should be bigger beneficiaries of the shift to value-based care. Catching people earlier in disease progression can save tons of money. But diagnostics companies seem like they're always considered bad businesses because they're stuck in a bad business model in one time fee-for-service payments and tend to get commoditized? I'm not an expert here, so correct me if I'm wrong. So why haven't there been more interesting value-based care arrangements for diagnostics companies? Or have I just not seen it? Looking for input from smart diagnostics peeps

Republicans could not reach a consensus on ACA repeal. Relatedly, they’re having difficulty reaching a consensus on how much to cut federal spending on Medicaid.

It's difficult to reconcile President Trump's vow to "love and cherish" Medicaid with his endorsement of the House budget that would cut over $800 billion from the program. Cuts of that magnitude go well beyond eliminating fraud and abuse.

RFK Jr. was just asked about upcoding in Medicare Advantage. He called it "rapacious behavior". We are getting billing reform.

Have the @DOGE folks made it to the part of the system yet that shows private Medicare Advantage plans get paid by the government 22% more than costs would be in traditional Medicare?

@AdanBecerraPhD It’s my understanding that CMMI layoffs are pretty standard administration over administration turnover. Brad Smith, the former director of CMMI, is working closely with Elon at DOGE, and believes in the ACO model of VBC.
