I put a handful of wheat about to try and tempt deer or badgers to the camera trap. Over a thousand images of grey squirrels and one mouse in forty eight hours is what I got 🤦‍♂️😂

I’ve long enjoyed my trail cams & the glimpses of wildlife they reveal, but the videos lacked character. So I built a DSLR camera trap, triggered by a PIR with 2 off camera flashes. Week 1: a decent pheasant & blurry polecat. #wildlifephotography

The Beagle is a marvel of breeding and instinct—nose to ground, sterns feathering, each hound working as if the history of quarry lay written before them. When a good pack opens across hedgerow and meadow, it’s the sound of centuries of country craft and breeding at work.

Hard to take lectures on animal welfare from an organisation that previously had to apologise after concerns were raised about foxes being kept in poor conditions at a facility it supported. Credibility matters.

Hunters exploit legal loopholes to kill wildlife. I’m concerned Ministers won't review the falconry exemption. A narrow focus on trail hunting repeats the errors of the Hunting Act. We need a watertight ban that removes all current exemptions. End this bloodsport for good.

Trail cameras are great for letting you know what’s on the ground but it’s time to up the game so I’m building a DSLR camera trap.

Boxing Day, I’m with the Hursley Hambledon Hunt, a tradition rooted in the 18th century. Once focused on fox hunting, now a family celebration with trail hunting, festive ponies, and community spirit. It’s heartbreaking to see this cherished event threatened by modern politics.
