Really excited to be helping organize WordCamp Vienna for the first time. Last time I was volunteering, so this role is definitely more challenging and a lot more time-consuming but totally worth it. We’ve got a great team, and Vienna is the perfect city for it. Looking forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new people, and welcoming everyone to Vienna. Grab your tickets! vienna.wordcamp.org

Trying out a new app, and what immediately gives me confidence is that I see the name of a real human there, with a link to their track record. This hints to me it's not AI slop, but somebody is proud of the app. This builds trust.

This is the best overview of EmDash I’ve seen, with a good round-up of opinions from both sides. To me, it feels like hype within a fairly small bubble. I’ll pay more attention when it starts getting real adoption.

Cloudflare has launched EmDash, a new CMS it's calling the "spiritual successor to WordPress," drawing swift pushback from co-founder Matt Mullenweg and much of the community. therepository.email/cloudflare-lau…

I have a video coming on this, but Rafal has a great take here. AI doesn't kill WordPress — in a weird way, it makes it more relevant than ever. It gives AI an interface and ecosystem that has been battle tested for 20+ years. BUT we have to make some smart moves this year.

@A5hleyRich I too feel the same, but I think the bar is even higher than ever before so a product that cannot be replicated by an ai model even after 1000+ prompts is an approx goal 😅 I’m sure these models will get better and better, but so should our average products and that is scary 😂

The uncertainty around how AI will impact us scares the hell out of me, but being able to make meaningful progress on side projects while touching grass (or snow in this case) is pretty awesome. While walking the dog, thought of an idea, dictated it to Claude, and came back to the office to a PR.

@DerekAshauer @DmytroKrasun @kevinroose Like Derek puts it, there will always be a part of the market which likes certain tasks done by others so that they can excel at what they do better but the question remains will there be “enough” market for all the many competitors in each segment/niche/industry to survive 🤔

@DmytroKrasun @kevinroose It’s not about app developers having new competitors. It’s about them having less customers because some potential users can now build personal apps themselves. But there are still people who will never bother to make their own stuff. Will there be enough of them to sell to? 🤷‍♂️

Stop everything you do now, @kevinroose. Quit your job if you need to. And deploy what you have built to production. Then share it with us. Then try to get a few paying customers from that. Then keep marketing it. Then keep collecting customer feedback. Noticed competitors? Yes, you need to differentiate… At that moment you realize, you probably need to hire a developer who will manage a few Claude Code instances for you while you are focused on product decisions and customers. Developers will survive. At least in the next few months.

A few days ago, I got the best birthday present ever: I became a dad. My son and I share a birthday. Still can't believe it! 🥰 Everyone's healthy and happy. And I can't imagine any greater joy. I'm in tears most of the day. Time to stock up on dad jokes. Got a good one? 🤣
