They say we rescue them, but the truth is, they’re the ones who save us. This precious soul went from a world of silence and cages to a life filled with soft blankets and unconditional love. Not everyone saw his worth, but to his person, he’s a found treasure. Proof that the most loyal bonds are built on a foundation of safety and a second chance.

50 years ago today, we had perhaps the greatest on-field moment in history that didn’t involve any baseball action. Tom Rinaldi explains what happened in Dodger Stadium on April 25, 1976 with Rick Monday.

To the couple at Denver International who quietly asked to move instead of sitting near her… To the man at the gate who leaned over the counter and asked, “Are you sure that dog is safe?” Let me introduce you to someone who has earned her place more than most people ever will. Her name is Staff Sergeant Nova Steele. Yes, Staff Sergeant. That title wasn’t given lightly. Nova is a 90-pound black-and-tan Rottweiler - strong frame, calm posture, eyes that don’t miss anything. There’s a faint scar along her back leg, the kind of mark that doesn’t need explaining but tells a story anyway. She served with an infantry unit overseas as both a patrol and detection K-9. Long days, longer nights. The kind of work where silence matters, instincts matter more, and hesitation isn’t an option. On one operation, in a dim, dust-filled building that had already been checked more than once, Nova alerted where no one else had. What they found there shouldn’t have been missed - but it was, until she stepped in. Another night, things went wrong. Fast. Confusing. Loud. The kind of moment that doesn’t give you time to think… only to react. Nova did what she was trained to do - and more than that, what she chose to do. She took the hit that wasn’t meant for her. Weeks later, she was in a military veterinary clinic in Europe. Quiet recovery. Slow steps. No complaints. Just patience. She made it back. Now she lives with her handler, Master Sergeant Elena Cruz, back home in the United States. She flies in the cabin, right by her side - not because it’s a privilege, but because it’s been earned, piece by piece, moment by moment. The same dog people hesitate to sit next to once walked into rooms first so others wouldn’t have to. She doesn’t need reassurance. She’s already given more of that than most ever will. To every K9 warrior and their handler - thank you.💖

This young boy reached his hand out through the audience partition at the Harlem Globetrotters game. He was hoping to be noticed. As one of the players walks past him, he spots the outreached tiny hand. What happens next is pure gold! The Harlem Globetrotter gave this young fan the most spectacular slow-motion high five, along with a thumbs up of acknowledgement. Core memory! Have you or your kids ever had in interaction with a celebrity that became a cherished memory?

The flag that Rick Monday rescued 50 years ago today is headed to Cooperstown! OTD in 1976, Monday, a Cubs outfielder and veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, grabbed an American flag from two protesters who had run onto the field at Dodger Stadium and attempted to burn it. Monday, the longtime Dodgers broadcaster who played 19 years in the Major Leagues, was a two-time All-Star and a World Series champion, has often been asked about the moment. “If that’s all you’re ever remembered for, that’s not a bad thing at all,” Monday told MLB Network in 2016. Monday still owns the flag and it will be on loan to the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration. In addition, Monday will be honored on July 25 during induction weekend.

I believe in the power of prayer. Please join me in praying for Maddox. Dear Jesus, please heal him and help his family get through this difficult time 🙏✝️🙏 Last night Maddox Graser had two hits and helped his Wooster High School baseball team win 10 to 0. He was perfectly fine. By 8 pm he was throwing up at home. It got worse fast. He was rushed to the hospital in Wooster and then life flighted to the Pediatric ICU at Akron Children’s Hospital this morning. Maddox is a sophomore. A second baseman. A teammate. A son. Right now he has no brain activity. From a baseball field celebrating a win to a pediatric ICU fighting for his life in less than twelve hours. His family never saw this coming. Nobody did. His mom and dad are sitting in that hospital right now needing every prayer they can get. If you believe in miracles please stop scrolling right now and say one for Maddox. His family is pleading for them. Please share this post. The wider this reaches the more people are praying over this young man tonight. Maddox Graser. Remember that name and lift it up.

🚨 50 YEARS AGO TODAY: Dodgers legend Rick Monday became an American hero. Two protesters ran onto the field at Dodger Stadium trying to burn the American flag… and Rick Monday sprinted in like a damn boss and SNATCHED it right out of their hands. No hesitation. No apologies. Pure patriotism @TheVinScully with the call!

An MLB player threw a ball to a kid wearing his jersey. The kid makes the catch… then turns around, hands it to his little sister, and gives her a hug. How can you not love baseball? ⚾️❤️
