CAPE at 42.1. The 99th percentile of every valuation reading since 1871. The only time this number was higher was March 2000. But here's what makes 2026 different from 2000. Back then, momentum crowding was extreme. Everyone was all-in on the same trades. Today? Factor crowding is at early-cycle lows. Almost nobody is positioned aggressively in any single direction. That's the paradox that'll confuse people for longer than they expect. No crowding means no forced liquidation trigger. The expensive market stays expensive because there's no mechanical seller. Expected 10-year real return from these levels is roughly negative 2.5% annualized. That's the math of buying at the 99th percentile. I think $QQQ grinds higher near term, maybe even makes new highs this month. The absence of positioning extremes allows it. But I'm quietly trimming into strength. Every rally from here borrows from future returns that simply won't be there. Late 2018 keeps showing up as the regime analog. Curve inverted, valuations stretched, vibes still goldilocks. The market is making you choose between FOMO and arithmetic. I'm siding with the math on any horizon beyond 12 months. Which side are you on? Finally

It now seems increasingly obvious that powerful institutions are supporting the market. The real question is: where is the liquidity coming from? I doubt any private institution, hedge fund, sovereign investor, or individual would willingly risk enough of its own balance sheet to move the entire US equity market. The required firepower is too large, and the downside risk would be enormous. My working theory is that the liquidity source could be connected to Fed swap lines, potentially involving the UAE. The mechanism would be simple in concept: the UAE creates dirhams and provides them to the Fed, while the Fed provides dollars at a pre-agreed exchange rate. The UAE would then have dollar liquidity that could be deployed into US assets, including equities, index futures, or options. I do not think the ECB or BOJ are likely candidates here. They are too systemically mature and too institutionally constrained to be involved in something this politically sensitive. But the UAE is in a very different position right now, and given its current strategic predicament, it seems like the more plausible candidate. To be clear, there is no hard proof of this. The weekly Fed balance sheet reports also do not show a visible expansion in swap lines. But if I had to make a bet on where hidden market-support liquidity could be coming from, the UAE swap-line channel would be my leading hypothesis.
