@Mel_17 My husbands family ditched me when he died. After 30 years of marriage and being a part of their family.

You know you made the right decision cutting off your ex’s family when not one of them reached out to offer their condolences. I was in their lives for over 20 years. Just reiterates how selfish they are. Mum treated their son like her own and was always kind to all of them.

The USA vs Canada game was never just about hockey. You can tell by the reactions- Canadians aren’t reacting like fans who lost a game. They’re reacting like something symbolic was taken. For decades, hockey was central to their national identity. “It’s our sport and we’re the best.” Now that sure thing is no longer a certainty, which is a tough pill when you’re already dealing with rising costs, a weaker economy, and a diluted sense of national confidence. So the loss feels bigger than sports. It feels like decline. On the U.S. side I’m seeing pride, not arrogance. A return to patriotism, toughness, excellence, masculinity and belief in American exceptionalism. We aren’t just celebrating a win. We’re celebrating identity. “We work hard and we expect to win. We’re proud of who we are.” That’s why this was never just about hockey for either of us. It’s about where our two countries are mentally.

Yesterday, I had a double mastectomy. I don’t have cancer but my whole family is riddled with it. I feel relief that my chances of getting breast cancer is now reduced by 90 to 95%. I have a BRCA 2 variant.
