This is my son and my daughter. My whole world changed when I lost them. My son passed away in 2015 from heart failure at just 26. My daughter passed in 2019 from sepsis after fighting cancer. She was only 27. Losing both of them… there are no words big enough for that kind of pain. 💔 But today, I want to share a piece of my daughter’s story. She called me from the hospital one day, completely disoriented. I left work immediately. When I arrived, she kept slipping in and out of consciousness, and before long, they moved her to ICU. Because of strict visiting hours, I wasn’t allowed to go with her. That night, around 10 PM, my phone rang from an unfamiliar number. It was a nurse from ICU saying my daughter wanted to talk to me. I immediately sat up, wide awake. When I answered, she told me she was scared… that the antibiotics weren’t working… and that she knew she was going to die. I tried to comfort her, telling her to just be patient, that the meds would start working. She simply said, “I love you forever.” And then we hung up. 💔 Just before midnight, the hospital called again… this time telling us to come right away she wasn’t going to make it. They had put her on oxygen, and things looked very bad. The moment I saw her, I knew. I could feel that her soul had already left her body, and she was holding on only long enough for us to see her. I couldn’t speak. I felt completely numb. Two days before she passed, she stared toward the door and quietly said, "My brother is waiting for me.'' And somehow, that gave me peace. I am calmer about her passing than I was after losing my son, because I know truly know that they are together. They loved each other deeply, and that brings me comfort. But I miss them… sometimes so much it feels hard to breathe. Still, I feel them watching over me. 🤍 I have two grandchildren, 9 and 6, who miss their mom every day. I’ve printed many photos for them so they will always remember her. I want her love to stay alive in their hearts. This is my story, in short. Some of us have been arguing for a long time that the BBC’s obsession with promoting hyper-diversity in its drama productions – even in period dramas – was preachy and inauthentic and was alienating viewers. Needless to say, the usual accusations were thrown at us. Now an independent review, commissioned by the BBC itself, has found that the over-representation of ethnic minority characters, especially in period dramas, can feel “clunky”, “inauthentic” and “preachy” to the viewer. It concludes: “The BBC should aim for an organic and authentic approach to diversity rather than it looking forced or tick box.” Interestingly, the authors state: “We found our interviewees of colour as emphatic on this point as those who were white.” telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/01/2…

🎢Sad news from Margate, where Britain's oldest rollercoaster - the utterly brilliant Dreamland Scenic Railway - is now closed, permanently. According to statements, up to 5 hours of daily new safety checks are needed to operate it safely, and that burden effectively makes operation unviable. The park says that extensive consultation has been made on this - so I've no reason to doubt the professional opinions expressed in this. But it is nonetheless a sad outcome for something which had previously been rescued a number of times - and was a proper highlight and for many like me, the reason for visiting Margate's Dreamland park. theisleofthanetnews.com/2026/01/28/dre…
