This publication of my college essay is surprisingly meaningful to me. As competitive college admissions garners national headlines, I’m proud that I stayed true to myself, wrote the essay that I wanted to write, and that it reeked of 17-year-old me.

I'm excited to have submitted two honors theses, one for @histlit, and one for @HSCRB. This wasn't easy, but it was so worth it.

Down rabbit holes about postwar motherhood, infertility, and pregnancy, I stumbled upon some pretty bizarre physician rhetoric on donor insemination from the 1940s and 1950s. This thesis is an exploration of this postwar rhetoric and its implications in our contemporary moment.

So unbelievably excited to submit my @HistLit senior honors thesis, “‘Have the Husband Press the Plunger of the Syringe’: Donor Insemination and the Production of Normalcy in the Early Cold War United States.” I’m deeply grateful to everyone @HistLit who made this possible.

This essay felt personal, as I have two food allergy moms myself, who have for the last 20 years shouldered a similar blame/burden that I observed in the mid-20th-century.

I proofread this essay with a gloved hand while holding a pipette in the other. The fact that @histlit makes it possible for me to simultaneously look at the same topic from two completely different perspectives — not just in theory but in reality — is beyond my wildest dreams.

I may not be a real junior (thanks Covid), but I just finished my junior essay @HistLit! I took a break from my obsession with 1950s nuclear families to explore something new and personal: motherhood and food allergy in a World War II and early Cold War America.

As Editorial Chair @thecrimson, I try not to take up too much space on a platform designed for our entire community to share. But the topic of double concentrations was too important -- and too personal -- for me to stay silent. thecrimson.com/article/2022/3…
