To the Ugandans complaining about South Africa - how would you react if your streets were filled with hawkers from foreign countries? When I look at the people harassing immigrants in South Africa, I notice it is the lesser educated, lesser privileged ones, attacking foreigners doing petty business rather than foreigners working in offices. And you will notice it is the south African elite that seem baffled by the xenophobia, urging their people to show restraint. There is a nuance to this problem that is not being discussed. This is partially a class issue. The people most affected by the influx of illegal immigrants doing petty work are the people at the bottom socio-economically in South Africa. Isn't it fair for a poor South African to ask why they need Nigerians and Zimbabweans selling tomatoes on their streets and running neighbourhood kiosks? I do not see them bothering bankers, economists and other professionals from other African countries working in South Africa, because they are far fewer in number and are not an economic threat to the middle class or elite black South African. And because of largely undocumented (illegal) status of many of these foreigners, when they commit crimes there tends to be less consequences because they are not even easy to track. Don't get me started on the legitimate concerns about fraud, drug and sex trafficking that are perpetrated by certain specific nationalities that I shall leave unnamed for now. While of course we must denounce violence, we also have to be fair to the black South Africans - especially those at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder. There are indeed many things to criticise about them, but on this issue we have to look at the matter more broadly.

This is a Nelson Mandela bridge and an illegal immigrant is selling bananas, It is hard to have people who don't assimilate to our living standards. In South Africa immigrants are selling everywhere they see a space and it is disgusting. SAHRC #MadlangaCommission Jacinta MaCele

@ChrisExcel102 Brother, you were being reprimanded. You have always been that jita who take a stand in what he believes in but that day you were easily swayed and we needed to correct that. Other than that, the no dustbin to throw a brother.

Earlier today I summoned the Acting South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Thando Dalamba. At the meeting, I conveyed the Government of Ghana’s strong condemnation of the continuous xenophobic attacks on Ghanaians and other Africans living in South Africa. We are urging South African authorities to take decisive action in protecting the human rights and dignity of our nationals and all Africans. Ghana equally expects that the promised investigations be expedited and all perpetrators punished to serve as adequate deterrence. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will communicate other steps we have taken in due course.

@D_Molatoli He definitely doesn't want to be national commissioner, he once said this before on uKhozi fm, way before he made that media briefing. He is perfect where he is, i just hope he will have a national commissioner that will protect him but i do not think.

EXPLAINING THE MANDATE OF THE NATIONAL ORGANIZED CRIME TASK TEAM I read a bit to familiarize myself with the mandate of the new National Crime Fighting Unit, I don't know whether it's also called Organized Crime Unit, headed by General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. I share a few highlights: ■ Allocated R1 billion rand, money from Criminal Assets Recovery Account. They arrest crminals, recover their assets, sell them, and fund the Unit. Mkhwanazi says you can't have tax payers funding this Unit while these criminals are making millions. The Unit in the long run will be self-sustaining through assets recovered from these thugs. Makes so much sense! 🙌🏽 ■ Formed to combat sophisticated organized crime, including international syndicates, local organized crime, drug trafficking, gangsterism, what he calls the "enemy within", infiltration of SAPS and other law enforcement agencies and agencies within the criminal justice system. ■ The Unit will use a similar method employed in the PKTT, bringing different specializizations from different disciplines under one command. ■ For example individuals from the Uniform branch, Detectives specializations and Combatting unit will work together when deployed to a specific area anywhere in the country. They will move them around different provinces. ■ They will identify hard working officers who are like minded, who have demonstrated integrity and ethical behavior, and vet them thoroughly. They will however also use counter intelligence methods to continuously check on them to mitigate against any possible risks of them becoming corrupted. ■ They have already started assembling the teams, will be analyzing the dockets to prioritize the ones they should tackle first. ■ They will also focus on corruption related to government contracts and entities. This one excites me! 😊 ■ He outlined that the objective is "to investigate, disrupt their operations, suffocate their efforts as much as possible, and then recover whatever assets we can.” I suspect General Mkhwanazi is happier to be running this project more than being in the Office as National Commissioner. Having seen how effective the PKTT was in a short space of time, they must have strategized with General Khumalo and Masemola that what is needed urgently, is to expand and replicate the PKTT structures nationally. The more I think about it, the more comforted I feel about yesterday's decision. They have the strategy all worked out, regardless of who the National Commissioner is. See? 😊 #MadlangaCommission

Me thinks Masemola knew Mkhwanazi would not be appointed, he then gave him powers of police structures across the country . They will dethrone Mkhwanazi from that task and cite financial strains.

@Chief_Dzata @AfricaFactsZone Idid mentioned the grains. Before the arrival of white people, there was no maize in Africa and white people are the ones who forced us to eat maize. Now imagine what it does to our health if it was introduced to us by people who despise us.

@S_OkudzetoAblak @Issahrazak75157 Again South Africa biggest mistake is going after a Ghanaian. They can do it with the Nigerians and face no repercussions but for a Ghanaian, the current government will not let it slide. Questions will be asked and answers will have to be given.
