Indigenous women and girls are targeted for violence more than any other group. May 5 is the National Day of Awareness and Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Gender diverse people. Also called Red Dress Day, we invite you to wear red and spread awareness.

We created mitten doorhangers based on Leah Dorion's book. We recycled materials, practiced new skills, & prayed to Creator while we worked. We wanted our love to be obvious in our work as they were going to our loved ones, the residents of Gabriel Manor. @RCSD_No81 @gdins_org

Disaambr came and we spent time listening to the stories of our people. We loved Leah Dorion’s Li Michif li zhoor di Nowel li mitten. So much so that we began a very special project with our learning. No two mittens were alike! @RCSD_No81 @gdins_org @SacredHeartRCSD

We are blessed to learn our language from, hear the stories of, and visit each week with li vyeu Jeanne. We call her Nookoom. Noohkoom likes us to illustrate her stories to keep & read when she can't be with us. Fun Fact: Noohkoom Jeanne is a published author with @gdins_org!
