Disaambr came and we spent time listening to the stories of our people. We loved Leah Dorion’s Li Michif li zhoor di Nowel li mitten. So much so that we began a very special project with our learning. No two mittens were alike! @RCSD_No81 @gdins_org @SacredHeartRCSD

Each day we learned more about the Métis leader’s life and legacy, new words in Michif to describe our learning & then illustrated our stories. #LouisRielDay #aenbraav @metisnationsask

For the month of Noovaambr we worked on a special project, we illustrated our very own book! We wanted to tell the story of #LouisRiel ‘s life in a way kids our age would understand! #hero #aenbraav We made copies for our families to pass down, & a PDF to share. @metisnationsask

Since everything is different this year, our first Faamii day took place virtually! To prepare Maa Taant took a laa gaalet making lesson from Noohkoom Jeanne and @creerunner! We made a video for our families and prepared take-home laa gaalet kits complete w. Michif terms!

Our Oktobr Faamii Day included Seesaw Activities for families to work on together at home for Language Practice. They baked their laa gaalet, watched the video with @creerunner and practiced the Michif words from Noohkoom together. @SacredHeartRCSD #RCSDConnect @metisnationsask

We are blessed to learn our language from, hear the stories of, and visit each week with li vyeu Jeanne. We call her Nookoom. Noohkoom likes us to illustrate her stories to keep & read when she can't be with us. Fun Fact: Noohkoom Jeanne is a published author with @gdins_org!
