Today marks the 60th anniversary of the assassination of Malcolm X - El Hajj Malik El Shabazz - a champion of Black dignity and justice for all people, a warrior taken from us for too soon. 60 years is not that long ago.

I don’t celebrate Christmas as a Muslim, but I love Jesus (peace be upon him). I also don’t understand how anyone who claims to love him can turn a blind eye to a genocide in the very land of his birth.

The Tahajjud prayer has great value because it is free of all aspects of showing off, since you are praying alone in your home, and it is just between you and Allah. Your prayers during the day might be affected by the awareness that others are watching you, but during Tahajjud all these feelings just disappear and you can focus solely on your worship.

Sh. Abdullah Kamil, an iconic voice of the Quran of our era, suddenly passed away in New Jersey, after spending Ramaḍān in leading the people and reciting the whole Quran. Allah tested him with being visually impaired since birth, but gifted him by allowing millions to see and hear the beauty of the Quran with his heart-trembling voice. I was fortunate to meet him and pray behind him in MCC in New Jersey. O Allah! Grant the Quran to be an intercessor for him on Judgment Day!

The facilities manager at the Islamic school that I graduated from took the Shahadah today after being inspired by Imam @omarsuleiman504 and the character of the students and teachers. Such a proud moment!! He’s giving the shahada on the intercom so that all the kids can hear.

Regret is fundamental to sincere repentance & self-renewal. Despair only yields further distance from your Lord & self-destruction. Arrogance is to pretend you have nothing to apologize or repent for in the first place. Your mistakes can be gifts if you turn them into growth.
