@TheMonologist Erm actually... 🤓☝️ Samuel Goldwyn was never involved with MGM since he left two years before the merger. His name wasn't even Goldwyn, but Goldfish, and the company came from his name combined with the Selwyn Brothers, only after which did he change his name to Samuel Goldwyn.

Before Samuel Goldwyn & Louis B. Mayer joined in there was just METRO (Studios). Here’s their Hollywood Lot in 1920.

@BowTiedGlobe I don't think it always looks bad. For example, San Francisco where it's sort of part of the city's look. Actually got this hat recently that uses the power lines in the design to represent the city. bartbridge.com/products/san-f…

@bigcontentguy It really is not that uncommon of a phenotype. I had a teacher who looked just like this as well.

The team and I have spent the past several months analyzing feedback from the community. What came through was the voice of people who care deeply about Windows and want it to be better. Read this blog post to learn more about what we're doing in response as we look to raise the bar on Windows 11 quality. Please keep the feedback coming, to help us shape the future of Windows together. blogs.windows.com/windows-inside…

On a trip in the San Jose & Palo Alto regions of CA & the “post-American America” vibe is extremely strong everywhere you go, manifested through various different peoples. I took the fam to a nice upscale park but foolishly forgot about e*d because I’m a 40 yo fart & that was simply not part of the america I grew up in. Anyways most of the place looked & sounded like tatooine & while my kids played on the playground we got to hear a sermon on the loudspeaker nearby about how “those telling you to dress LESS modestly, they WISH they had what WE have! They only WISH!” Across the water, the eye of the transamerica pyramid building silently looks on

@spumdonor Oh I think so too, just agreeing with how the categorization has an impact on how it's perceived. Seen as: the real films which compete for the Best Picture and 10 other categories, and then there's the weirdo not important films that get their own solo quarantine category.

@macadondee You can make a better argument for documentaries needing their own category than you can for animated features

Genuine question, what do kids and tweens watch these days? What’s their Ren & Stimpy, Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Cow&Chicken, Ed Edd &Eddy, Batman TAS, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Invader Zim, Rocko's Modern Life, The Tick, etc? We had so much, and they seemingly have nothing?

@Fresherluke What even does that mean? Like the whole universe being compressed into a single point? That happened like 15 billion years ago of course we're post singularity.

@VlahThe Sonic started as a YouTube skeptic, but after seeing society become too liberal as a result of it's atheism, he began promoting traditional values and philosophy, but without ever actually becoming a Christian.

@EmergentLand @mikusingularity There is no perfect solution, but I think urban advocates should certainly understand that beauty is a real thing, and one which matters to people quite a lot.

@Pirat_Nation Windows 11 has got to be REALLY bad for people to look at Windows 10 and say it's responsive.

@EmergentLand @mikusingularity I also want to clarify, beautiful architecture isn't limited to only the extravagant. Case in point, San Francisco, where many of it's "postcard" neighborhoods were built in what was at the time considered an average or typical style. (ie Painted Ladies are not even unique)

@EmergentLand @mikusingularity It's a failure of imagination to insist that regulations cannot promote beauty without being overbearing, because the opposite has already been proven true in how overbearing regulations helped eliminate beauty.

@EmergentLand @mikusingularity It's not that you can build something beautiful that doesn't function either, but these two aspects need to work together. Having the best transit and walk-ability and all that won't matter if it just feels bad to be there. And plants can only do so much to cover up ugly.

@EmergentLand @mikusingularity It's because the beauty of the city is just as important as all the quantitative aspects. Mission Bay in SF is completely dead, but everything east of Van Ness and North of Market is full of life and one of the most desirable places in the country to live.
