tBTC redemption fee waivers are now live for $T stakers.
1/4 Redemption fees of 20 bps can now be partially or fully offset by staking T on the new Threshold App. This helps BTC–tBTC pricing without changing how the bridge operates.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but just because your BTC is locked up on Bitcoin chain and not tokenized on Ethereum chain doesn’t mean the risk profile is automatically improved. There’s a solid chance that tBTC ok Ethereum will still require less trust than this system.

As far as I'm aware, this is built on BitVM.
BitVM is very interesting but it's still a bridge by any meaningful definition. And you can't achieve the full theoretical 1-of-N security on a side chain (like Ethereum is in this case).
I personally consider the current implementation of tBTC to be significantly safer and more lindy than new BitVM implementations until those codebases become more mature. If and when they do, upgrading tBTC's honest majority assumption to a 1-of-N BitVM assumption (subject to the caveats above) could make sense.
It's great to see BitVM implementations start to reach production, but I do think the misleading marketing here is unfortunate.
