Books are great learning tool to teach so many things & mindfulness is one of them! Books on mindfulness can be read by a teacher, put in a reading corner or in a mindfulness area. These books can help reduce anxiety & increase self confidence! #UoNTeach #educ4750 #SDG3

@_MissONeill_ Wow, that is alarming. I think there is a mentality that 'veggies are gross.' I know that's what I thought when I was younger. We need to change this outlook and find ways for children to not only eat more vegetables, but WANT to eat them!

It is alarming the amount of children not consuming the recommended amount of vegetables daily. I believe the dedicated “Fruit Break” period in classrooms should be changed to further encourage children to choose vegetables as a healthy snack/ alternative to fruit.
Mrs Deaves@DeavesMrs

The number of children eating enough vegetables increased from 2.9% in 2015 to 4.4% in 2018. That still means that less than 5% of children are eating enough vegetables every day. Are people aware of the RDI? Education is key. aihw.gov.au/reports/childr… #Educ4750 #UoNTeach

@_MissONeill_ @SophieMcMurray2 This is a great idea. Sometimes physical health is seen as more important as mental health but they go hand in hand. Let's normalise prioritising our mental health!

What a fantastic video @SophieMcMurray2! Mental health days are a great way to help a student refocus and understand the emotions they are feeling are normal!
Sophie McMurray@SophieMcMurray2

What a great challenge to us as teachers to place more importance on mental health & to build upon students' toolbox of strategies to cope with mental health issues. #SDG3 #UoNTeach #EDUC4750 Why students should have mental health days ted.com/talks/hailey_h… via @TEDTalks

@MissBrowningAU I had no idea about this! Thanks for sharing. I love how easy it is to access. This wouldn't even need to be a planned activity, it could be something you quickly put on facilitate the students according to their needs. How great!

@madeleine0899 Thank you for sharing this! This is a fantastic resource; I especially like the addition of the interactive games. You could complete them as a class to consolidate knowledge and understanding at the end of your lesson.

@cram_ms That is a great idea too. You could even use creative arts (drawing food pyramid, painting a healthy plate). There are so many options we just have to get thinking!

@madeleine0899 Definitely including Science and Mathematics! A great way is to go through recipes or even students creating and cooking their own recipes - includes procedural steps (English), the science behind cooking (Science), and measurement/quantities (Mathematics), and more.

I love the idea of teaching adjectives through healthy foods. With the crowded the curriculum, using cross KLA activities is necessary. I would combine Literacy and PDHPE. What are some other KLA' s I can use to teach health and wellbeing ? #UoNTeach #educ4750 #SDG3

@madeleine0899 Love this! Never heard of this before! My primary school had “traffic light” foods, which follow the same outline. They’re both easy for students to follow for healthy eating!

I love the idea of providing opportunities for students to identify their emotions. Not only does this allow students to create awareness about how they are feeling, it allows teachers to support, alter & provide for students throughout each school day. #UoNTeach #educ4750 #SDG3

I believe mindfulness is important! This is a resource to hang in my future classroom. It shows some visual mindfulness strategies for my students to use. I plan on having a whole area dedicated to mindfulness! What are some other strategies I can use? #UonTeach #educ4750 #SDG3
