What Changed My Life? Eight Simple Disciplines I Learnt from the Lives of Sages and granthas I am not a saint, guru or enlightened person. I am an ordinary man who learnt a few simple disciplines from the lives of sages. These small changes have given me strength, peace and faith during the most difficult periods of life. If they can help someone else, then writing this is worthwhile. I am a very ordinary person like anyone else. There is nothing special about me except that I have spent my life studying and practicing Jyotiśa and Vāstu. Many people think I have done something extraordinary in their life, but I never see it that way. I am only doing my work. Whatever comes through me is by the grace of Ishwar. Still, there are a few things in my life that are different from how most people live. These are not great achievements. They are only small changes that I have learnt from the lives of saints, sages and my own experiences. They have given me peace and strength. Maybe some of these will also help you. 1. My faith in Ishwara never changes The biggest thing in my life is my faith in Ishwara. I am not talking about blind beliefs, rituals, show, or religious drama. Many people who have visited my home know that I don't even have a temple inside the house. Life has not been easy for me. Like everyone else, I have faced financial problems, health issues and personal struggles. There were times when I became angry with God. I complained, argued and even questioned Him. But I never lost faith. The relationship remained. For me, Ishwara is the ultimate truth. He is far beyond rituals, dogmas and religious showmanship. One has to keep the heart open to experience that truth. 2. I believe in tapas For many years I have been sleeping on the floor. It is not because I cannot afford a bed. I have one. I simply prefer sleeping on the floor. Tapas does not have to be the same for everyone. One person may observe silence. Another may sleep on the ground. Someone else may practice celibacy or give up something they enjoy. Every person can choose according to their capacity. But some form of tapas is necessary if you truly want spiritual growth. 3. I eat very little Most of the time I eat only once a day. It is not always possible because of marriages, family functions and other situations, but I try my best. The food is simple, in small quantity and without salt. This is also a form of tapas. It keeps the body light and makes practices like nāma japa much easier. 4. I do not take alcohol or non-vegetarian food I do not consume alcohol or non-vegetarian food. Many people in my own family eat non-vegetarian food, but I have chosen a different path. People may disagree with me, but I have seen that attachment to non-vegetarian food is no different from other addictions. It weakens the spiritual protection around a person and slowly creates many unseen problems. People will connect it with traditions, deities and many other arguments. There is no end to debates. Those who are attached to it will always find reasons to justify it. But when you study the śāstras and the lives of saints carefully, the direction is very clear. Such habits make a person more vulnerable to lower influences and never help in attaining sadgati. 5. Dharma comes before relationships For me, dharma comes before every relationship, even before my own life. Truth and honesty are not things that change according to convenience. If my father, mother, brother, wife or children are following adharma, I cannot support them simply because they are my family. On this matter life is black and white for me. Many people, including my own relatives, do not like this nature because I call a spade a spade. But if you decide to stand with dharma, this is the price you have to pay. 6. I visit the temple every day For twenty-eight years while I lived in Jaipur, I went to the temple every single day. After shifting, this stopped for a few months because I had to settle down. Thankfully I have now found a temple nearby (4.97 Kms one side) and started the routine again. Daily temple darśana gives a spiritual shield. Its value is much greater than most people realise. 7. I try to do seva quietly I cannot speak about the details, but I try to help people and do seva according to my capacity. How, when and for whom will remain between me and Ishwara. Some things should stay private. 8. My daily prayers never stop No matter what happens, my daily prayers continue. Whether I am tired, sick, busy, disturbed or burdened with work, the routine remains the same. Even if someone's foolish actions upset me, I do not leave my prayers. This discipline is extremely important. Spiritual progress is not built in one day. It comes from doing the same practice every single day without excuses.

The word Guru means the one who dispels darkness. The Navanaths — nine celestial sages who incarnated on Earth at Krishna's command — are the Guru principle walking among us. Their lineage flows from Adinath, Shiva himself, through Dattatreya, and into the world. The Navanath Bhaktisaar is not just a text — it is their company. The tradition holds it as jagrut, awake. To read it is to sit in the satsang of the Nine, and the Naths are said to move toward the one who remembers them. This Guru Purnima, that text is now available in free English transliteration for the first time — for every seeker, regardless of language. sathguru.org/navanath.html #GuruPurnima

#GuruPurnima

Today is #GuruPurnima Most people pray for more money. Some pray for success. Very few pray for better judgment. And yet, that is what Guru truly represents. Today, take a few minutes to: ✨ Thank your parents, teachers and mentors. ✨ Call or message someone who genuinely changed your life. ✨ Read one page of a spiritual book instead of scrolling. ✨ Donate according to your capacity. ✨ Sit in silence for 11 minutes and ask yourself: Where in my life am I refusing to learn? Because Guru doesn't just remove darkness. He removes ignorance. And when your wisdom grows... Money, relationships, career and peace often begin to follow. Happy Guru Purnima. May your life always be guided by the right Guru, at the right time.

Good Morning! #GuruPurnima A good Guru can show you the path, share knowledge, correct your mistakes, and teach you everything they know. But a Guru can only teach. The student must make the effort to learn, practise, question, apply, and evolve. A Guru’s guidance + a student’s effort completes the cycle of learning. I have always believed that with the right Guru, half the journey towards any accomplishment becomes easier. The other half depends on how sincerely we walk the path shown to us. And Gurus are not always individuals. The Universe, experiences, mistakes, markets, and the people I’ve met along the way have all been some of my greatest teachers. Grateful to every Guru who taught me and every experience that made me learn. Happy Guru Purnima! Have a Great Day!

He… who taught us to see the Guru in the rustling leaves, the flowing rivers, the fire that transforms, and the silence that heals… He… who holds the trigunas yet is untouched by them, who walks unclothed but clothed in truth, carrying only a kamandalu and kaupeena, yet holding all 14 lokas in the cave of His heart - ruling not by power, but by love over the hearts of His devotees. To the eternal Guru Dattatreya Swamy, I bow down again and again. Without You, I am nothing. Even my nothingness becomes sacred in Your presence. One who constantly contemplates the Avadhutas, those who walk beyond the limits of time, space, and worldly illusion, untouched by the noise of the realms, becomes like them, free and fearless. Jai Gurudeva Datta 🙏🕉️ Guru Pournami Shubhkankashalu
