@madpoint @G00ub @plasma_node i dont think you understand what i mean, NONE of us wanted this, we wanted IMPROVED moderation over chats and not this age check bullshit, we didnt want a "ok give us your face" feature just so we can talk to other people on roblox we wanted better supervision on the chat itself

Dave fucked up with his wording but y'all are being malicious with wording. It's completely obvious he meant it's an opportunity for Roblox to create a safe environment for kids. You don't gotta agree with that but he's not dismissing the issue of predators outright

@G00ub @plasma_node that progress is a bit too over the top with the introduction of this system, considering its overengineered and cant even verify users' ages properly

The #Roblox chat updates don't make any sense.. a much better option would have been restricting chat for under 13 users like Club Penguin used to (image), and then having the option for parents to manage settings to enable other chat options when a user is 13+. Roblox already has great chat filters and pretty solid reporting systems for chat (improvements can be made), but restricting chat to age groups is going to ruin the platform and so many game genres that rely on chat (teamwork games, roleplay games such as restaurants/cafes, games like adopt me where trading pets is a huge part of the game, and so much more) A chat system like this would be a solid solution and would also put parents in control of chat settings, which is overall a way better option anyway. Removing the integration between Roblox and Discord or updating it to users 18+ would also be a great move. Discord is a dangerous platform, and a way bigger problem than Roblox since Discord has no real time moderation or chat restrictions, and zero age verification to sign up. Why is no one talking about Discord? Surely if people actually cared (not just about the views or interactions on their posts) they'd also be talking about Discord and other similar platforms that pose a much bigger risk of harm than Roblox? If you mention "Discord" to parents, I guarantee 90% of them won't even know what it is. That's a big issue. We need to bring awareness to these other platforms that pose huge risks, we need the influencers who have the reach to these parents to bring awareness to these other platforms too, not just Roblox. Just focusing on one platform isn't going to solve the problem.

i respect the effort, but i believe this can dangerously do more damage than good: - i've seen plenty of my viewers be considered younger & older with the AI face verification. AI altering also works for bad actors to purposefully look younger, self explanatory how this is dangerous - younger players being groomed almost always do not realize they're being groomed. the chances of them reporting predatory behaviour is drastically lower than another adult reporting the behaviour as they wouldn't realize what's truly happening to them - this change encourages directing players off-platform. this already happens, but with this change i fear it'll drastically increase. directing kids from roblox to discord, telegram, etc, is even more encouraged for predators targeting kids - an adult can't see inappropriate talk directed at kids if a predator manages to lie about their age group self explanatory - roblox devs are going to struggle moderating their own games if they can't see a majority of their communities' social interaction how is an 18+ roblox dev meant to report and moderate inappropriate discussion in age groups that they don't have access to ?

@iJackeryz The issue was discord and other platforms all along, what Roblox has done is basically shift the spotlight onto them. Expect a discord flame war next.

@_Skybane73_ @stinkellalove In my experience 90% of the time if you report someone they get banned, like are y’all not using the report system because you don’t believe it works or something??

Roblox users realizing that attacking an entire platform for not having 100% moderation accuracy, instead of condemning parents for giving 5 yr olds phones, tablets, computers & unsupervised internet access, will result in censorship + ai privacy infringement for everyone.

@SandCraft3 @_Skybane73_ @stinkellalove This is something I’ve been saying for a while, if your making decent reports and not just reporting something and providing no reason in the report. Roblox is very likely to act on it. I’m not sure how people are coming to the conclusion that NOTHING gets moderated

DISCORD IS THE PROBLEM I understand the reasoning, however one of the major issues is younger players going off platform to discord and talking to players. Rather than this, why not limit socials links to 18+ individuals?? There are no chat filters or ANYTHING
