Terry Marc@Marcute22

Longtime users are frustrated with X because it no longer works the way it used to. Back in the early days of Twitter, your reach was simple and direct. If you had 5,000 or 10,000,20,000 followers, your posts were delivered to them in real time. It was a true chronological feed—your tweets showed up in the order you posted them, and your audience actually saw your content. The “old” Twitter (pre-2016) was built around that real-time experience. Your voice reached the people who chose to follow you, without interference. Today, that’s no longer the case. X relies on an algorithm-driven, engagement-based feed, meaning even your own followers may never see your posts unless the system decides to prioritize them. That shift—from a guaranteed audience to an unpredictable algorithm—is why so many longtime users feel frustrated and disconnected.

@bingwen_hu A different approach to pulse sequence optimization using effective Hamiltonians and not state-to-state transfer. Work by Lorenzo Niccoli and Gian-Marco Camenisch in my group.

To #NMR community. I have just learned of the death of Prof. (Emeritus) Jim Emsley of the Univ. of Southampton. This is very sad news. He was among pionneers in anisotropic NMR (thermotropic LC). Thanks to him, I learned a great deal during my postdoc studies (Oct 95-Oct 96).

Applications are open for the NEW GRC on Magnetic Resonance and Quantum Information Science, taking place during June 14-19, 2026, in Southern New Hampshire University, NH. Register asap, and encourage others to do so. We have the feeling that this GRC will be popular. NEW. Students applying before January 31, 2026, and Postdocs in some circumstances, are eligible for a Travel fellowship and/or registration discount. Please use a cover letter together with the Poster Abstract to make your case. There also is the Carl Storm Fellowship by the GRC that is available for FIRST TIME students or postdoc attendees of the GRC. The all-inclusive (room & board) registration fee is $1,400 for a Single, $1,350 for Double, and $935 for Offsite. Application link: grc.org/magnetic-reson… We have received generous support from the GRC, JEOL Inc., XeedQ GmbH, Groupment Ampere, International EPR / ESR society (IES), ACS, Spinflex, Qblox, Bruker Biospin, Virgina Diodes, Quantum Machines, Tecmag, Cryogenics, Thomas Keating Ltd, the Center for Molecular Quantum Transduction (CMQT), the Pines Magnetic Resonance Center (PMRC) and the CZI Biohub. Several more companies and Institutes have pledged support and will be announced at our next email. We will greatly appreciate financial support and help from ALL of you, your institutions, research centers or company contacts. Please email us contacts or directly contribute using the link is here: my.grc.org/p/contribution… The selection of session topics in the program reflects our vision for this GRC to serve as a platform for both learning and teaching the fundamentals of spin quantum science, and for unlocking the untapped potential of magnetic resonance at its intersection with quantum information science. Our inaugural GRC will be hosting a Power Hour featuring the theme “Convergence of Quantum Formalism and Language.” This is a recognition of the obstacle to the exchange of ideas between QIS and MR that lies in the distinct terminologies that have independently evolved in each field—often to describe fundamentally similar concepts. Overcoming this language barrier will accelerate research, innovation, new collaborations, and academic-corporation relationships. The initial program can be found on the GRC webpage, featuring the following nine session topics. 1. Translation of Spin Quantum Concepts Across Communities 2. Coherence, Decoherence and Entanglement 3. Spin Qubit Design for Quantum Control and Sensing 4. Hyperpolarization Methods for Spin State Initialization 5. Treasure Trove of NMR Pulse Sequences for Quantum Information Science 6. Quantum Engineering and Control 7. Spin Dependent Processes in Biology and Water 8. Quantum Electrodynamics Enabled Processes 9. Vision for Spin Based Quantum Information Science Feel free to join the email list to receive updates: forms.gle/PhxSBs8w9GtGxu… Hope to host many of you at this exciting gathering. Sincerely, Songi Han (Chair) and Alexej Jerschow (Co-Chair) Tatyana Polenova (Vice Chair) and Ashok Ajoy (Co-Vice Chair)
