My good friend, and our colleague, Will Dunlop died over the weekend. In "Grieving the Only Way I Know How," I wrote a bit about what Will means, and how I am working through his death. It may be helpful for some of you, for grieving Will or anyone else. getsyeducated.blogspot.com/2021/09/grievi…

Now that the '20-21 job market is 'officially' over with the reset of the wiki, I re-ran my web-scraping code to see how badly the pandemic affected the market. The result: tenure-track job postings dropped from 769 in '19-20 to 440 in '20-'21. See graph for breakdown by area.

@JessieSunPsych Goes with the conceit that we're typically studying timeless psychological phenomena rather than psychological moments floating on social and historical waves, imho.

In recent reviews, I've been asking authors to specify when the data were collected (given COVID). Isn't it weird that it's not common practice to report data collection dates in psychology?

@JessieSunPsych My lab has a habit of including the date because we study yearly events (e.g. bar exam, academic job market). However, always makes me nervous that a reviewer might think my data too "old".

CDC also mentioned that it's okay to call someone "buddy" or "friend" if you can't remember their name after a year of lockdown. I don't think that's getting enough attention, but I understand.
