While the positions we are offering now are temporary, we hope to get approved this spring to launch another tenure-track search next year. Anyone we hire as a visitor would be in a strong position to apply for a future TT position when it becomes available.

Our department recently moved into a brand-new, state-of-the-art science building, and new faculty members have access to multiple sources of internal funding for research support.

@cococ_rr @cortexfutura @CatoMinor3 @RoamResearch We have done something like this, the anchor back to the text is nice to have but not essential. We’ve also tried taking the whole text itself and putting that in Roam, but I prefer reading in the PDF form.

@maggied @cortexfutura @CatoMinor3 @RoamResearch Other than individual academic use: Do you think there is any value on co-annotation? e.g., RBC like experiment with pdfs of academic papers. What about having the index to the evidence from specific pdf ready inside your argument?

Is Roam or Tana the better TfT program for academia/knowledge management? Got this question from a customer today, and thought I'd provide my reasoning as of December 2022 for everyone.

@cococ_rr @cortexfutura @CatoMinor3 @RoamResearch Def +1 on new zotero. I think I agree with @cortexfutura that roam/Tana don’t need native pdf highlighting for me. When something is really tough, I do supplement it, but more notes or working it out on paper work well for me.

@cortexfutura @CatoMinor3 Oh, I have many thoughts on this ☺️ In short, if you want to understand something deeply, and it is new to you, you need to deconstruct and reconstruct it based on your background and need. @RoamResearch is so powerful here. I read those papers on Roam.

@NickMilo learning keyboard shortcuts, and your suggested configuration, was very helpful. An update for new workflow w/ tabs would be great (I still use your cmd+1, cmd+2, cmd+3 shortcuts, but I had to unmap all the new tab ones to keep using them)
